The school comes with the rest of the athletic dept. Take it or leave it. The boosters have been footing the bill since the beginning of time, long before the big tv deals.
Yet the payroll just went through the roof. I see the possibility of restructuring to where UF foots the payroll through profits.
Speaking in generalities, college fans root for the logo, NFL fans root for the player (Mahommes, Brady etc.)
If they’re in the minority not worrrying about betting or fantasy they are rooting for their favorite team growing up
There is even fantasy football for colleges. With that many teams and players it can be quite daunting. But there are also more opportunities for blowouts and a lot of points from a QB, RB or WR.
The players for the gators are very important for me. No Tebow and I’m not watching. I’m not watching a bunch of for scrubs attempt to play football.
The Pioneer Football League is a truly national conference with members on each coast and throughout the nation’s heartland. Butler University, the University of Dayton, Drake University, and Valparaiso University were among the league’s founding members in 1993, with Davidson College, Marist College, Morehead State University, Presbyterian College, the University of San Diego, the University of St. Thomas, and Stetson University joining to form the current 11-team league.
Forget about the things that made college football great...they're gone forever. Now its all about "ME" not love for the school.
So much doom and gloom about changes to a sport that allowed a team to dominate for like a decade before this. Paying players is a good thing no matter what. No way the product gets worse with more money invested. Different but definitely not worse.
No more playing for the name on the front of the jersey, now just playing for the name on the back of the jersey
The rest of the sports minus a select few are supported by football. The other hundreds of sports programs operate without that money. It could be separate.
The bills just went way up though and the schools are pocketing the money generated and leaving the boosters with the new payroll.
Tebow is the exception, not the rule. We watch Gator football because it’s Gator football. The players continue to change and we all still watch…even through the bad offenses of Muschamp and bad defenses of recent years.
