And the fact that a former President of the US was just convicted of 34 felony counts.

Hate Trump all you like not a good thing for the country.

Sad so many are literally cheering.

It doesn't really matter at this point. Appeal will take it past Nov 5th, and after that date, no one will care.

Sad you think this felon should get a pass because of his former office. Bad news for you is that this was the "weak" case. His problems are going to get exponentially worse. To put it in terms with which you may be familiar, think of it as the America getting the political equivalent of a colon cleanse.

I agree a former President being convicted of a bunch of felonies is not a good thing. I also think it's very bad for the country that the Republicans nominated him to be President again after he committed a bunch of crimes and tried to overturn an election he lost, resulting in his fans attacking our seat of government.

This is a good day. Nobody should be above the law. Period. We elect Presidents. Not kings.

As for MAGA, Trump gives them simple answers and makes them feel good about themselves. But it's like an opiate. The high is temporary, you need more and more each time, and in the end, the drug messes with your body and head, leaving you worse off than when you started.

Maybe quit supporting a literal piece of shit for president and it’s no longer an issue.

They’re felonies. You know how I know? Because they were charged as felonies.

You see, if they charge misdemeanors as felonies, that’s called breaking the law, and they’d be the ones on trial, and Trump would already have appealed, and he’d get off.

Bit he can’t. Because they’re felonies. As Bragg so masterfully explained today.

Are you going to keep repeating this untruth until you die?

Biden didn’t charge Trump. Two impartial prosecutors did, after collecting and viewing all the evidence, because that’s their job. And an independent counsel did, one with no political affiliations and a career revered impartial prosecutor, after collecting and viewing all the evidence, because that’s his job.

Biden didn’t indict Trump. Four different grand juries in 3 different jurisdictions in 3 different states - made up of a thoroughly vetted and challenged panel of impartial citizens.

Biden didn’t convict Trump. A thoroughly vetted and challenged jury of impartial citizens did.

And Biden won’t sentence Trump. A lifetime revered impartial judge will.

But you know who did try to weaponize the legal system? Republicans - at the direction of Trump - who investigated and built a case against Hunter Biden, in an attempt to muddy up Joe Biden’s name. While they didn’t indict him or try him, they DID interfere with a plea bargain that was already accepted by the court, because they didn’t want the trial to end and they wanted to try to get Hunter a judgement against him.

And Biden, who you claim weaponized the legal system for himself….did absolutely nothing to stop any of it. He NEVER even commented on it other than to answer questions by saying he loves and supports his son.

And you know who never said a word about that! YOU.

We don’t have to. Because our politicians don’t pay The Enquirer for catch and kill schemes. They don’t pay off porn stars with campaign finance funds to steal an election. They don’t steal dozens of boxes of classified documents and then lie to the government and FBI about them and refuse to return them. They don’t call election officials in states they lost and tell them to manufacture enough fake votes for them to win. And they don’t plot, organize and execute a coup to try to topple the US government - a coup that involved the POTUS, his cabinet, a cadre of rioters, and at least 2 Supreme Court Justices.

So no, we don’t have to be careful when we wish for a nation of laws to apply those laws to everyone equally.

We got justice. Which the people deserve.

Never sad he should get a pass anywhere. Don’t put words into my post.
I’ve been very clear Trump is terrible so it’s not “bad news” for me.

It’s a bad look for the United States that a former POTUS was found guilty of felony charges. Why can’t you understand that. Same would be true if it was a Democrat.

Take your partisan blinders off and try reading what’s posted.

Try finding a post from me in the last 3 years supporting Trump for POTUS in 2024.
I’ve said many times I wish he would just go away.

Pub or Dem the fact that a former POTUS was just convicted of 34 felonies isn’t a good look for the US. Shocked that so many intelligent people don’t get that idea.

I don’t support this perspective, and I think it’s objectively incorrect, both in reality and in concept.

We should always want justice to prevail. If it creates some trouble with the worst people, that’s far better than the destruction it causes to the vast majority, and all our institutions, when guilty dictators go unpunished. It’s far better than the entire world being upended because the United States is no longer a nation of laws, and the biggest outlaw in the western hemisphere is still in the running to take over again.

Will it cause some unrest among the basket of deplorables? Yes. Do I care? No. Will it lead to violence against innocents? Yes. Do I care? Of course.

But here’s the reality: they’re going to do it anyway. Justice or no justice, the scorpion is always going to sting because it’s in its nature. So we should NEVER make a single decision based on what the worst people in the country will do in reaction.

We should make EVERY decision based on one thing and one thing only: what is right.

I don't know. It tends to be a long process, but I don't know how fast or slow NY's state courts are.

Put me in the camp that doesn't think he'll spend any time in jail (for this at least) but if part of the criteria is accepting responsibility and showing remorse he's going to make it really hard on the judge to show leniency.

It's a horrible look when he commits 34 felonies and doesn't stand trial.
He chose to break the law. Sorry that doesn't "look good".

I’m not too refined to admit that one of the great additional benefits to having the biggest criminal in the history of American public life finally face justice after a lifetime of cheating, stealing and destroying lives….is that people like you and 92 are suffering for it. You deserve it. You’re just as bad as Trump; you just don’t have the means to do what he has done. But you use your vote to empower terrible criminals every two years, to do the worst things to the most vulnerable people in the world.

So I’m so very glad that you, TJ, and 92, and everyone else like you, are suffering. Feeling terrible. Feeling a tiny fraction of the pain that your votes have caused millions of people across the world.

    Because you deserve it.

That a former POTUS who broke the law was indicted and convicted speaks volumes to the world that the US is a strong democracy because the law was followed regardless of who the defendant was and we have a fundamentally sound justice system. I can't think of anything worse for our democracy than Republicans and Donald Trump undermining our justice system because he was caught, indicted and convicted.
