As usual, I would just caution to let your emotions settle before passing an ultimate judgement. Recall that you also predicted that 9/1/22 would be a day that would live in American infamy.

The posts have been erased, but it was after the Biden Maga speech that also flamed outrage. Either way, I don’t think our country is so fragile that one person being convicted by a jury of his peers will destroy the entire thing.

Hold on, hold on. Now you just wait one small second here.

Is Joe Biden not your leader, your God, Joe Biden?

You gotta get your priorities straight, young man.

This wasn't a jury of his peers. This was a jury of Democrats who would take any opportunity to destroy Trump. There was no legitimate trial here.

Sir, if you feel so strongly that you've been convicted, and knowing what a staunch law and order proponent you indeed are........shouldn't you take yourself to jail?

Oh I’m intrigued. I haven’t yet seen them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was displeased by the conviction. He often seems opposed legal action against politicians.

Who should get to decide what is a proper legal outcome if not a jury?

It should've never been in New York City. No chance to get a fair jury there. It should've been held in Albany or somewhere else in the state.

Yeah that’s in line with the previous comments I’ve seen from him. I appreciate his defense of the individual and the rule of law, but it also must be the case that a politician is capable of earning a legitimate guilty verdict. I’d like to see more of his reasoning for why this trial was selective.

The question remains who gets to decide where a fair trial can be found. There is no stipulation in the constitution that a jury must not come from NYC if defendant is from said city.

I assume his argument is essentially, "you or I wouldn't have been charged with this " which I guess is probably accurate. Because prosecutors want to go after high profile criminals if they can. Doesn't change the fact he committed a crime and was found guilty by a jury. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Our criminal legal system tends not to hold powerful people accountable. It is sad that Amash would seemingly consider that a feature, rather than a bug.

Let's be frank, they charge normal people with all sorts of bullshit on a daily basis. So I really don't want to hear about how regular people wouldn't get charged with this crime. Regular people don't have the ability to make hush money payments to porn stars and then engage in fraud by falsifying business records to cover it up.

Was he saying that when Cohen was convicted, or is this “perversion of justice” reserved only in defense of Trump? An odd line for Amash to take.

I kept seeing people refer to this as the “weakest” of the cases against Trump, but it was also the first case to have a co-conspirator go to jail. It seemed like a relatively obvious open and shut case, maybe the least “impactful” compared to his election subversions/frauds and some of his other criminal acts. But still pretty open and shut given there were receipts of the payments, receipts showing they were fraudulently reported as “legal expenses”, tape of Trump discussing the payoffs, AND the primary co-conspirator already plead guilty and went to jail. There really was no doubt at all that a crime was committed, and Trump was willing and ready, indeed he ordered the crime.

It’s true that Cohen and Stormy Daniels were horrible witnesses, and maybe those sketchy withesses are why the previous prosecutor balked. But the fact that Bragg got a conviction I think vindicates him for following through on the case.
