Crime was falsifying business records. Read the indictment. It's a felony because a jury of Trump's peers found him guilty of doing exactly this for the purpose of covering up additional crimes. Not that difficult to understand. Trump could get 4 years in prison. But non-violent, first offense, maximum is unlikely.
