The funniest part of all this is this was the charge he had the best chance of beating. It’s all downhill from here for MAGA.
It’s a great precedent. Politicians are not above the law. Even presidents. I hope we see more of this.
For those of you celebrating the destruction of our justice system today, just know this, Trump will never step foot in a jail cell. You try to do that, we'll make January 6th look like a picnic in comparison. MAGA will never let police even remotely get to Donald Trump for any jail time. You want Trump in jail? You will have to be okay with a Tianemann Square style massacre, because that is what it will take. Are you truly ready for that? This was a political trial, nothing more. We now live in a banana republic where freedom is gone. What's next, are you all going to want to prosecute all Republicans? Am I guilty of a crime just by being a Republican? Are you ready to put half the country in jail? When do the "re-education camps" start. You know since we can try to jail political opponents now the "re-education camps" can't be far behind.
I'll add to this for perspective, maybe it'll trigger some self-reflection for some of our members. Remember Jameis Winston at FSU? Remember the rape allegation, the cafeteria incident, the crab legs. Remember how he skated from any real punishment under Jimbo? Remember how the outside football world looked at him? Remember how FSU fans still revered him? That's how you feel about Trump.
Would have preferred the state had held off on this trial until after November. This sets up a bad precedent for governors like DeSantis and Perry to start having politicians indicted in their states.
Law and order, except for our orange god. Cry me a river. He broke the law and was convicted. You don't get a pass for being a former potus, or for being a candidate, nor do you get a pass because someone else did something bad. Our laws are not written that way.
You're a fan of no one being above the law. Or are you? You guys complain about blue states being soft on crime. Someone is arrested, found guilty and now you want him to walk? I'm confused by who should held accountable and who shouldn't.
Again Donald Trump will never serve a second in jail. You will see 100,000 Americans surround Donald Trump to prevent any law enforcement official from getting within a mile of Trump.
A simple guide that I posted on one of these threads: Frank Wilhoit: “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition …There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.” Look at all reactions through that lens. It is incredible how accurate it is.
Back when Republicans were conservatives, rule of law was an important thing to Republicans. Republicans are no longer conservatives, and whatever benefits them is acceptable. They have joined the democrats in being a party of relative morality.
