This is why we have to stop judging people squarely on political lines.

So much good stuff in there, but many will miss it because they shut off anyone politically different.

Hard to believe a grown, supposedly educated man, would not know who Ken Burns is.

Supposedly huh. That’s a nice one.

Hard to believe that libbies still like to question the intellect and education of people who don’t think like them even after having that thought stuffed up their butts repeatedly.

BS in Mechanical Engineering and MBA.

    BOTH from UF.

    How about you Mr Intelligence?

FWIW, I read a lot more than I watch film or TV. How intelligent do you need to be to watch PBS?

Not in the slightest. I was acknowledging the speaker’s education, it questioning it. A performance like that doesn’t just come out organically. It takes education and practice.

    I even complimented him on attending the premier institution of his trade;

FSU Flying High Circus - Wikipedia.

Me? I have a BA from UF and I've known who Ken Burns is since the early 90s when he became very famous due to his Civil War documentary.

Quite honestly, im a little surprised here Davis. I think of you as an honest liberal. Reasonable, rational, and secure in your beliefs. Your support generally starts to wane when the resident leftists(there is a difference between a liberal and a leftist) here venture deep into their absurd thoughts. Here you seem to have followed them deep into the absurd and now they are knocking on Stupid’s door.

Yet crickets when Dangole criticized his intelligence for something that has nothing to do with intelligence? Cmon Davis. Be fair.

Is that UF's mini - 1 year MBA program? Why do/did they do that when everywhere else is 2 years? Or has it changed?
No way you watched it. It was eloquent and and very appropriate for graduates and definitely not “boring”. Unless you don’t understand the vocabulary. His warning about Trump was a small part of it.

I watched the Butkers one and I outlined his points one by one in the thread. His just wasn’t geared towards graduates and there were better ways to honor women who stay home than they way he did.

It was the Executive MBA. I think it was around 18 months. Most of the major programs have had something similar to this for a while now as it attracts a broader and larger student base.?

I didn’t say it was boring. I was actually enjoying it until he took off his costume and showed that he was just another lefty posing as neutral and unbiased until he went for the Joe Frazier left hook with the Trump comments. Then I turned it off.

I’m not going to argue with you about Butker’s speech. I thought it was inappropriate as well for what is supposed to be an inspiring speech. As I posted before, Dr. Woodard hit the Grand Slam last summer.

So in summary, after conservative gives commencement at conservative university - conservatives laud him and non-conservatives get upset.

Consequently, author and film maker who is very likely liberal leaning speaks a Jewish founded, historically liberal leaning university and conservatives do not like his speech and Democrats lionize him.

Color me shocked by all of this.

Overall it was fine. Thought it was really boring. He really was not one to capture the moment. Then the partisan nonsense. Watch his 2016 commencement at Stanford. He basically rehashed his same speech. He literally used the same opening!

It was eh to me. Then the partisan crap and it became a waste of time.

I agree about partisan stuff. Many here were saying Butker chose the wrong place and time for personal views and I think the same is true of Burns.

I am a fan of his work and agree with much of his speech though and think we shouldn't get to upset and overreact. That makes us just like the folks who lost it over Butker.

Yeah, I hate when people repeat the same phrases over and over. It really does generational damage.
