American Airlines in some more hot water (due to racist flight attendant?).

So let’s get this straight, a white male flight attendant has a problem with some passengers “body odor”, and all the people he has a problem with are 8 totally unrelated black passengers???

I assume a very soon to be former flight attendant. Kind of crazy the airline let the obvious racist get that far. Although in the end they let the passengers board, I guess after they noticed the… umm… pattern.

Helluva week for American Airlines PR.

It’s not impossible that all 8 just happened to be black. According to ChatGPT the probability of picking 8 straight black passengers blindly from a plane of 250 passengers (8 black and 242 white) is approximately 7.68×10^−10.

    I think that’s 1 in 10 billion chances the attendant wasn’t racist.

The flight attendant smelled "body odor". I smell a pending lawsuit.

That flight attendant is toast unless there is a LOT more to this story we have not heard. What surprises me about the version of events so far is that no one (apparently) stopped to pull the flight attendant aside and say, “What are you doing? Do you know what this looks like?” I’m sure there’s precedent for having a passenger depart the aircraft for smelling offensively, but this looks like they did not even identify the odoriferous individual but picked eight passengers who looked like they smelled — what? — “black?” I’ll be fascinated to hear the other side’s version of this one.

We only know he complained about BO, we don’t know who asked all 8 black dudes to be removed. Could have been the pilot for all we know, he or she has ultimate say over who is on their aircraft.
But who in their right mind thought that solution was the best one? Someone is getting fired.

You have to have some pretty powerful BO to overcome a highly oxygenated environment, seems a little suspect to me

The article in the OP reports that the lawsuit allegations identify the person as a flight attendant.

It says he complained about the BO, it doesn’t say who made the decision to remove all 8 black guys, unless it’s somewhere other than the article. It only says “employees” removed them.

I also can’t imagine a situation where eight people are removed from a flight without the pilot in command’s knowledge and consent. There is certainly more to the story than the thin slice of this article gives us, whether that additional information helps the airline’s case remains to be seen. It looks pretty bad right now.

I'm a little confused. Was one person supposedly giving off an odor? If so, why remove eight people? I've flown hundreds of thousands of miles and have NEVER smelled a passenger!

Hmmm.. A white male flight attendant. Any chance he was gay? He might not get fired.

This story is raising quite a stink.
As has been mentioned, there has to be more to this. Either way this is not a good look for AA.

Who in the hail wants to get sardine stuffed into a compressed metal tube flying at 7 miles high for hours on end with stank bombs aboard?

If you stink, and get called out on it... that has nothing to do with race.

Flying AA tomorrow morning. I guess I'll shower now that I've seen this. Otherwise, I was just going to fly in my workout clothes.
