For the record, the Nazi's got exactly what was coming to them by Russia. However.............

"WELCOMING AND BENEFICENT" red army. LOL

DD - is he talking about the commissars who set up the machine guns behind their own infantry and shot them if they retreated?
Wait - maybe he is talking about how the cultured red army respected the dignity of German women, especially in Prussia in 45?

Maybe he is talking about the 30,000 Polish officers and soldiers shot in the head by Stalin in 39-40?

I have always considered the Soviet Unions rebound and ultimate victory over Nazi Germany as a seminal moment in European history.
Perhaps the greatest achievment of the entire soviet era. Of course this was accomplished at enormous cost, by a Gov't that didn't give a damn
about how many of it's citizens were killed, enslaved or starved to death.

History spins a disturbing tale of Soviet cooperation with the Nazi's in the early years, prime example - the Nazi / Soviet pact of 39.
And golly gee DD - I think you guys were 50/50 with the partition of Poland as I recall? maybe even got more territory than the Nazi's on that one.

And lets not forget your buddies in Finland. They killed Russian commies out pretty good with your territorial aggression their too. Sent about 250,000 vodka drinkers to an early departure.

    interesting analysis from isw.

“The Washington DC-based think tank the Institute for the Study of War said over the weekend that "Russian forces likely launched the offensive operation in northern Kharkiv Oblast earlier than intended with an understrength force hoping to establish a foothold before the arrival of resumed US military aid to the front made that task more difficult."

Russia launched new Ukraine offensive too early, tried to beat US aid: ISW

Wasn"t it around April 2022 that we heard Russia was firing up to 50,000 artillery shells per day and Ukraine could only fire 5,000 per day,? Remember when the US said it was commited to sending 220,000 artillery shells to Ukraine, enough to match Russia for 4 days?

So who is the "useful idiot" at THFSG? Who is the "clown"?

Who disgraced himself with 2 years of posting idiocy? How many Ukrainians.have to die to satiate his desire to degrade Russia? 1 million?

You know the answer to this. In Russia’s mind, a western-backed, NATO-backed Ukraine is a security threat. It’s not that they feel they can out-bully us. Even the Europeans knew meddling in Ukraine could lead to what we see today … years before it began.

Well, Russia has solved that strategic problem magnificently. I mean, its invasion of its sovereign neighbor has had the intended effect of placing great distance between Ukraine and NATO (as well as the EU, of course). Other nations who were considering to join NATO have been intimidated and backed off. NATO itself is fragmented with backbiting and dissent, Orban reigning supreme over the member states. And, oh, let us not forget Russia’s military prowess in the field. The world now trembles at the sound of Russian tanks and artillery on the move in a manner unseen since Hitler cut through France like [fecal matter] through a goose. I remain in awe of Putin’s ability to relate ends, ways, and means toward a grand strategy of a renewed, vibrant, and powerful Russian Empire. And I would say you’ve backed the right horse.

EU and US putting limits on the F-16's. Not allowed to use in Russian airspace so the russian bombers can stay on their side of the line and launch long range glide bombs unimpeded? Are the A2A missiles capable of pushingthe russian bombers far enough away that the glide bombs can't reach the border?

Belgium to deliver first F-16s to Ukraine this year — with strings attached – POLITICO

Belgium’s pledge on Tuesday to send the first batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine this year comes with a clear warning to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: Don’t fly them in Russian territory.
    .............................
Asked if the F-16s can be used in Russia, De Croo said: “On … utilization of weapons, everything which is covered by this agreement is very clear, it is for utilization by the Ukraine Defense Forces on Ukraine[’s] territory.”

first group has graduated f-16 training

First Ukrainian Pilots Graduate US F-16 Training (airandspaceforces.com)

The first batch of Ukrainian pilots have graduated from U.S. F-16 training, U.S. officials told Air & Space Forces Magazine. Multiple Ukrainian pilots have graduated from their F-16 training course at the Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing in Tucson, Ariz., Arizona National Guard spokesperson Capt. Erin Hannigan said May 23. The 162nd Wing is the U.S. Air Force’s training unit for foreign F-16 pilots.

Hannigan declined to say how many pilots graduated or when they did so, citing operational security. But some Ukrainian pilots are still undergoing training in the U.S., American officials said. The Ukrainian pilots who graduated F-16 training in Arizona will conduct additional training overseas, Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Charlie Dietz told Air & Space Forces Magazine May 24.

“A small number of pilots have finished their U.S.-based training and moved forward to the next portion of training outside the United States,” Dietz said. “Additional Ukrainian pilots continue to train in Arizona. While I cannot confirm specific details regarding the training schedules and locations of individual pilots, I can assure you that we continue to work closely with our Ukrainian partners to enhance their operational readiness and interoperability within NATO standards.”

Pilots arrived in Tucson in multiple tranches. At first, four Ukrainian pilots were undergoing training at the 162nd, which began in late October of last year. In late January, four more Ukrainian pilots arrived. The National Guard said it was planning to train a total of 12 Ukrainian F-16 pilots by the end of fiscal 2024.

sucks to be a Russian soldier..are they really volunteering for this? do the russian people understand that their loved ones are being served up as cannon fodder?

3rd Assault Brigade captures large group of occupiers attempting to storm Ukrainian positions (msn.com)

One of the captured, a 59-year-old former master of sports from Russia, said that Russian command sent the occupiers to storm the positions of Ukrainian brigade in groups of 10 men saying “guys, you are already dead”. According to Russian, he spent a day and a half in a trench with corpses, looking for water. During this time, no one took the bodies or helped wounded.

“We went in, I looked at what was happening there: half of us were gone, all wounded...," captured soldier said. "We were thrown to the slaughter... There was no one alive at all."

3rd Assault Brigade on May 11 reported that it had captured a deputy platoon commander of 752nd Regiment of Russian Army near Rayhorodka, Luhansk Oblast, who identified himself as Senior Sergeant Ivan Semenov.

I think keeping those things on the Ukrainian side of the lines is a good idea in any case. There are weapons they can launch from Ukraine that can still target Russian aircraft conducting standoff attacks.

Yep, we don't need an f-16 getting shot down over Russian territory or being captured and put on display in Red Square. They can inflict plenty of damage from Ukrainian airspace.

Of course still on going. But good guys seemed to have stopped or at least greatly slowed Russian advancements. When Russia first started this latest offensive I was very concerned they would push further into Ukraine.
Russia does continue with bombing attacks on seemingly random targets which is a different story.
