OK, blowing off a little steam here. Our Women's softball team qualified for the College Freaking World Series yesterday. This afternoon, I come to GatorCountry and these are the front page stories: Gators Land in Stillwater Regional Ranking Florida's position groups from best to worst (FB) Everything Kevin O'Sullivan said after Florida's first round exit in the SEC tournament PFF tabs Jake Slaughter a top returning interior offensive lineman Despite the tough schedule, 2024 is a prove-it year for Billy Napier Luke Heyman and Liam log Weekly SEC honors The only mention of softball is last week's news that we won the Gainesville regional. I know it's a holiday weekend, but the HUGE news of making the WCWS happened BEFORE the baseball team was selected for the Stillwater regional. Also, zero mention of the ladies' Final Four lacrosse match on Friday. Wow. /rant
What is this softball team you speak of? lol. Just kidding. But…ranting that a free website’s (neither of us are paid vip members) haven’t put out a story on a given team or sport or anything…I don’t think it’s rant worthy. We aren’t paying a thing for goodness sakes. also…there are several good threads on this page regarding the softball teams achievements and their journey to Stillwater. I figure that should be enough until gatorcountry gets Spivey off his football recruiting ass and writing stories on softball. (/heavy sarcasm). just messing with you my friend. Have fun on what remians of the holiday weekend.
All good points. I'm sure softball and lacrosse don't generate many clicks either, which is unfortunate. I actually think softball is superior to baseball as a spectator sport.
It is a real shame teams making a go at National Titles get ignored for a very very meh baseball team.
What aggravates me more than anything is we don't have a radio show or podcast dedicated to our softball.... I don't even expect like multiple shows a week or anything but jsut strictly cover gator softball one day a week and actually care about it. Alabama has it... ou has multiple. I'll click on one of ours that says we talk gator softball in it.... they mention one thing about a game then go right back to baseball.
This site doesn’t have a writer covering softball. They told us that when there was no article for them winning the tourney.
And looking at the pics and vids from GatorsSB, it looks like the University went all out sending them to OKC on a prop plane.
I get your point, but in the time you spent to write this up, you could’ve compiled and post a list of links from other sources about the topic at hand.
turbo prop can have same luxury inside as a jet. Jet just goes faster and flies higher. Other than that, they can be equal.
I don't think the NCAA provides transportation... I could be wrong, but my old man told me UF provided the baseball team with a plane back in the early 80s. One of the only teams in the conference that had their own plane, and I believe 1 of only like 2-3 teams in the conference that had lights on their field as well back in the early 80s. As a kid, that always blew my mind.
https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/championships/resources/travel/2023-24D1Champs_TravelPolicies.pdf Yes, once the tourneys start transportation is handled by Short's travel out of Waterloo, Iowa. For full team sports they usually each get their own plane. For track and field a few years ago Gators, noles, and Tiders and a few others shared a plane. The plane lost a windshield somewhere along the route. You should be able to google the story.
I believe if one of you wanted to write an artical for the site it could be arranged I would do it but many on here are more knowledgeable than i am about the recruiting and so forth.
