TSA screened record number of air travelers leading into Memorial Day and for the first time since the pandemic it eclipsed 2019. AAA predicts a record high 44M Americans will travel this weekend and many travel industry publications are predicting a record summer of travel.

All good signs relative to the economy and is a key signal of strength that Americans are confident enough in their situation to travel. This is great news unless you live in Florida and don’t like swarms of tourists.

TSA sets new record for number of travelers screened in a single day

Nearly 44 Million Travelers Leaving Town for Unofficial Start of Summer

Memorial Day travel could break a record from 2005 with 43.8 million expected to hit the road

Man, I had to pick up someone at ATL this weekend and it was brutal. Well, more brutal than normal for ATL anyway.

Good indicator of the state of the economy or as FoxNews will report it "Why isn't the Biden administration doing anything to address [you can throw a dart here - high ticket prices, crowded airports, delayed flights, etc.]?"

Fox news has in depth reporting on their news juggernaut "foxweather" dot com where they have a graphic showing that half the top 10 busiest days in history have been in the last week.

US airports see their busiest travel day ever in runup to Memorial Day

Checks out. You were there when it was busier than the Superbowl.
    From the foxweather link.

Yeah, definitely not due to my travel planning. Trying to be a better friend.
Horrible time at the airport (I had to park in off site parking and jogged the 1.5 miles to the airport because the shuttles were backed up) but it was a good thing to do.

Can’t imagine Hartsfield-Jackson this weekend. I’m on the road a lot and you couldn’t have paid me to travel this weekend. My compliments to you for entering that fire for your friend!

Thank you sir. I've always thought I was a pretty good friend, but some things over the last year have caused me to reflect and do some deep inward searching.

This is the craziest disconnect I have ever seen.

Polls say pretty much everyone says they are doing fine/good, but they think the economy is in horrible condition.

I understand the folks that are being lied to by their conservative news sources, but anyone who open minded should see how well things are going except for a tad more inflation then we would like to see.

Always good to do from time to time. Takes a bit of humility, though.

Is the airport MARTA station still under renovation? We’re headed to Europe in a few weeks and I’m using a car service to avoid having to deal with finding a parking spot anywhere near HJA.

Should be open, but not sure. My son uses it from Tech to the airport but Marta doesn't really serve where i live in Cobb County. That would make too much sense.

Yeah, Cobb County shunned MARTA early for the obvious reasons and its been very hurtful longterm to mass transit in the city.

Ironically Truist Park would now make a perfect location for a transit stop either up 75 or along 285 but that ship has sailed.

I am sure that you are a very good friend. I think I know what you’re going through and I went through something similar as one of my high school friends self-destructed. We all get wrapped up in our own successes/failures to see that someone that we know and know well is hurting right now.

Humility and self reflection are the wisdom that comes with age. Some gain it, some of us don’t. Every great leader and president has gained it.

I thought you might be interested in what Ken Burns said at a graduation address at Brandeis: “leadership is humility and generosity squared.” We have many men and women in Congress, and one running for President, who don’t rise to that standard of behavior. We can’t expect that from everyone, but surely we can from those who want to lead us……can’t we?
