Why threaten me with the mods whom I have zero trouble with. I've had friendly discussions with a poster who is a moderator in this thread. I know this comes as a surprise to you, but diverse opinions are welcome here on Too Hot and on Gator Country in general. To describe anything except negative Trump views as unacceptable content here is wrong and is your problem to deal with.
There are a lot of Trumpers here that are fine. But during the Bush years and the Benghazi era, there were also a lot of posters like you that just endlessly and brainlessly came here to post the latest Breitbart disinformation bubble stuff you do. It gets tiresome really, really fast.
Really, the video and information are in the public domain. You can get that video on YouTube with no alterations. You should be concerned more with what you post than what I post.
I found over the last 6 or so years that folks embarrassed by the direction of the Republican party, but unwilling to admit it publicly, instead self identity as "libertarian." I think it eases the burden for them.
So that is how the White House is getting so many falsehoods by Joe Biden fixed every day. Nice to know.
Promising to take over the FCC and punish the media who said stuff about him that he didn’t like. Libertarian?
Libertarian Chair Just Levels Biden Team After Their Hot Take About Rowdy Reaction to Trump Speech The Libertarian National Committe Chairman speaks out on Trump's address: “For the first time ever, a former president addressed the Libertarian Party. It was a rowdy crowd but we’re grateful for Pres. Trump’s time, and excited to make history,” said Libertarian national committee chair Angela McArdle after the speech in a statement.
Brand name Libertarians def count a lot of MAGA types among them trying to whitewash the cult status but small L libertarians differ from R/MAGA in significant ways. I have no idea what this convention is like, since it is indeed Brand Name Big L but I assume also attended by many rank and file that adhere to the principles more. But clearly plenty of the pure libertarians were in that room because every time Trump tried to give them a swig of the Fool-aid they went wild shouting him down. When he said he “put it all on the line” to fight despots, called Biden a fascist, said he would never put a political opponent in jail, and about two dozen other spots that get MAGA crowds teary-eyed that room vociferously bucked on him. The 3% line was his only retort. Basically the “what do you have to lose” strategy he uses for all demos outside of the base extremists. But he did have some moments to add to the highlight reel. I especially liked how long he lingered on Hung Cao’s name, and pronounced it with that weird AF over-pronunciation he does when he is struggling. I imagine the teleprompter literally read “Hung Cow” and you could almost see the hamster kicking it into another gear trying to crank out the voltage to activate the emergency comprehension engine.
Since folks here think Libertarians are bat shit crazy, let's at least see the Libertarian Platform: Platform | Libertarian Party (lp.org) PREAMBLE As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty: a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and are not forced to sacrifice their values for the benefit of others. We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized. Consequently, we defend each person’s right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power. In the following pages we set forth our basic principles and enumerate various policy stands derived from those principles. These specific policies are not our goal, however. Our goal is nothing more nor less than a world set free in our lifetime, and it is to this end that we take these stands. STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES We, the members of the Libertarian Party, challenge the cult of the omnipotent state and defend the rights of the individual. We hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose. Governments throughout history have regularly operated on the opposite principle, that the State has the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor. Even within the United States, all political parties other than our own grant to government the right to regulate the lives of individuals and seize the fruits of their labor without their consent. We, on the contrary, deny the right of any government to do these things, and hold that where governments exist, they must not violate the rights of any individual: namely, (1) the right to life — accordingly we support the prohibition of the initiation of physical force against others; (2) the right to liberty of speech and action — accordingly we oppose all attempts by government to abridge the freedom of speech and press, as well as government censorship in any form; and (3) the right to property — accordingly we oppose all government interference with private property, such as confiscation, nationalization, and eminent domain, and support the prohibition of robbery, trespass, fraud, and misrepresentation. Since governments, when instituted, must not violate individual rights, we oppose all interference by government in the areas of voluntary and contractual relations among individuals. People should not be forced to sacrifice their lives and property for the benefit of others. They should be left free by government to deal with one another as free traders; and the resultant economic system, the only one compatible with the protection of individual rights, is the free market. Note: The Statement of Principles was approved at the Convention in Dallas in 1974. There is some squirrely stuff in there, but not too far out of the conservative mainstream. Libertarians are not close to progressives. I can see why many of these folks will decide to vote Trump in November. It'll be interesting see speeches coming out of the convention about Joe Biden.
It doesn't. I had to bring the link that has the chairman's quote. Please delete the link if you'd like to. Thanks.
Much like the teapots took over the GOP leading to trump, same folks took over Libertarian party. Democrats definitely have crazy folks, but strangely, they keep them more in line in national politics vs running the asylum. As the next generation has seized power, we will see. Either Winter or the rapture is coming
Libertarians had normal reactions to Trump speech. They cheered gun rights and boo’d the NRA plug by Trump. They cheered attacks on Biden but boo’d Trump when he suggested he was the answer. That speech wouldn’t have changed a single mind with the gist being you are throwing your vote away so vote for me because Biden is a fascist. No real policy mentioned at all that would convince a Libertarian that he was anything but begging for votes.
McArdle and her Mises Caucus are white nationalists and right wing nut jobs. They have ruined the Libertarian Party not unlike how Trump and MAGA have destroyed the Republican Party. Members of the of the Libertarian Party (LP) are concerned about the Mises Caucus (MC) winning control of the party at the May 26 national convention, ushering in an era of collaboration between the U.S.’s largest third party and the hard-right movement inside the Republican Party "High-profile MC members espouse hateful rhetoric and collaborate with white nationalists and individuals linked to former President Donald Trump. Should they win control of the LP, they will take over a party that averages over 1% of the vote in national elections, peaking at 3.3% in 2016. Commentators argue libertarian candidates cost Trump at least three crucial swing states in the 2020 election – Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin – all of which President Joe Biden won by less than 1%." "Now that the MC has risen to power within the LP, some critics say they fear bigotry and bullying will flood LP ranks." "LP donations have missed targets and members are fleeing the party, according to David Valente, a former alternate member of the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) and LP member since 2012." “The purpose of what is going on with the MC … is to sabotage the LP to sideline it over the next few years for Donald Trump,” Valente told Hatewatch." https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch...us-could-it-sway-libertarian-party-hard-right
I was not there and did not watch the video, but here’s a take as to Trump’s “professionalism” from someone that was there:
