Color me skeptical on this piece of equipment. According to the article George was at 351 in Jan, 349 in Apr and weighed in for the start of Spring practice at 362 (according to another article posted on this board). Along the way he somehow converted 17.5 lbs of fat into 16 lbs of muscle. I think someones machine needs recalibrating.
Hopefully they have righted the ship. After the S&C debacle under Mac and a drift under the former guy…. One would think this was an area with early warning systems attached. Fingers crossed.
You would think it wouldn’t be that hard to find a good Richard Simmons. I mean, how hard is it to replicate the S&C program of the hundreds of programs before you.
This is the Gators Online Show with Nick del a Torre and Zach Abolverdi, so you know it's good! Go to the 12 minute mark for the strength and conditioning segment. First 12 minutes is mostly NIL stuff that I already knew, plus the general bs of most podcasters. Gators Online Show: Behind the scenes from offseason workouts
It is okay to be skeptical. One way to know if there is some BS going on is to look at the physical appearance of the athlete. If there is no improvement in the flab (aka Done Laps disease), that is a good clue that someone is not buying in on the program. There are other ways to monitor or check of improvement. Like, and increase in the weights being used, an increase in stamina, an improvement in speed and or agility in the workouts. It is okay to be skeptical. I hope the Strength and Conditioning team is skeptical too. They need to verify the results in multiple ways.
I am a wait and see kind of guy, so I will get excited about the S&C program when I see Gators pushing people around on the field.
I don't want excuses. But we did get thrown for a loop when Fitzgerald left after 5 weeks. It remains to be seen if Miles can make a difference. It's a BIG job. As for Fall, I consider it year 2 with the decade+ hole and all the changes. And yes that could be seen as an excuse. Grantham will always be an excuse until we get back to fielding a consistently ferocious defense. Probably 2025.Solid with flashes of excellent would be appreciated this year.
I hear you, but I just don’t see it that way. This is Year 3, and it’s Napier’s team. If he is the coach we all hope, then we will start seeing measurable improvements in terms of wins immediately, starting with Miami. If he’s not, we’ll know by mid-season, and it will be time admit a mistake.
