Bling, my man...his whole second paragraph is a pretty important piece that you are leaving out. Here it is again: "After UF and because of my background and ability to work with and damned near everyone I was selected as one of the first facilitators in our then Diversity training program and helped write the program from multiple other sources with people of different genders, races, and religions. Did that for several years and people lined up to take the training. "
He was accused of not ever hearing of such things by another poster. Should he not respond with a counter point? I was once told by a poster here that I had no idea about the housing issue in underserved communities. I then pointed out that I literally work in the non profit management sector for Habitat for Humanity which literally exists to provide affordable housing to underserved communities. Before that I worked for another non-profit that focused on foreign aid for children in underserved countries. The argument ended right there. The flippant comments that are often quite dismissive are going to bring about counter points. This idea that conservatives are ignorant to such thongs is just tripe
You forgot one. Liberals cant stand to have their point slammed with facts because it hurts their false narrative. (Did I do that right?)
Guy was so passionate about his task as DEI coordinator, he calls it “useless bullshit”??? Maybe in your rush to defend a poster you missed that from the original post. Did you ever consider your Habitat work “useless bullshit”. I’m guessing not. This would be like making the strip club connoisseur the office “sexual harassment sensitivity trainer” or some nonsense. I’m guessing he’d probably view that training as “useless bullshit” too. Concepts like this DEI can possibly only do good if there is good faith effort, and pretty much requires multiple levels of an organization to buy in and follow through with some goals. If it’s just limited to seminars, and the very people doing the training on harassment or diversity see it as “useless bullshit”, then of course useless bullshit it is destined to be. In either case, this innocent thread has gone off the rails. Apologies to River lol.
With you as the engineer working the locomotive. Congratulations. You’ve really outdone yourself on this thread BLING!
They’ll never let facts and logic override their emotions and narrative. Thank you for helping out the good guys!
Ha, good point. Let’s get back on track. It is not only ludicrous, it appears that it got at least somewhat close to working. As you said, it’s basically silly. But didn’t get slapped down out of hand, had to bring in lawyers.
I did in my second paragraph. If you want to go re-read it you can. What I basically said was once it was taken over by people like you, changed into a lecture instead of a discussion. and made mandatory you ruined it. I also addressed it when I posted this on a different thread a while back.
The problem with people like you (did I do that right?) is you see no gray. It went from great to useless BS because it became mandatory? Has it gone too far? Yep. Should it be reconsidered and improved. Yep. Does it need to be eliminated and demonized? Nope.
Oh I see plenty of gray. That is where I do all of my work. Nothing is pure white or black. I agree with you that it has gone too far. I think you would agree with me that for one to step forward and propose some moderation to the people who took this too far would at least be career limiting, if not career suicide.
Perhaps. But if the slamming was unjust, I will speak up. And dont be dishonest here. I slam my share of pubs. This was more about attacking a persons work. I mean calling his recollection of something he poured years of work as equal to saying "i have a black friend" is lazy, dishonest, and proof of no real argument. You disagree?
Regardless of how we got here, we are here. This thread is a perfect example of 30+ posts off topic and arguing about DEI. No one has spent any effort discussing how we could get our politicians to attack this kind of destructive criminal activity vs arguing over ancillary cr@p.
Agreed. The Pressley estate undoubtedly has the means to fight this, but how did it even get to that? Seems like a bunch of amateurs almost stole one of the most famous places on the planet.
