It’s not really looked upon that way by people who handle these types of lawsuits on a regular basis. Going through discovery likely airs a bunch more dirty laundry, and keeps the bad press in the news cycle. Juries in these types of cases, depending on the area, have been known to do crazy things that don’t even remotely make sense. You can lose huge, even if you have all the evidence on your side.

My step mom handles commercial insurance claims. You would not believe how much money is given away to idiots that are 100% at fault. Guy jaywalking, drunk, at night, on an unlit highway, gets hit by a rock truck and the trucker’s insurance pays out millions. IMO, the jaywalker should be paying damages to the trucker, but that’s not how it goes down. In certain areas, they aren’t even allowed to take any cases to trial, no matter how much of a slam dunk case they have. There’s juries waiting by to award people money. People volunteer to sit on juries and give money away. All cases are settled. It’s a racket.

It’s not an executed contract. For all we know this is the counter offer from the Rashada side. It could even be doctored or completely fabricated. I can put any numbers in that document you’d like to see, without much hassle. We’re not ever really going to know unless this all becomes public record.

Ruiz is definitely full of shit, but if the goal is to shit on UF, those 9.5 numbers being real hurt UF a lot more than the 150k numbers.

Well it’s fairly obvious that Rashada does not have any kind of future that even remotely includes the NFL so I guess he’s going to try to make as many $ as he can until UGA recruits a real QB and cuts him loose.

It would be worth a few dimes to get an NDA.

    It would be worth millions to get him to release this statement;

“My heart was always with Florida but that unfortunately did not work out. But if you have to dive from the top of the barrel to the bottom, I might as well cozy up to Kirby burrowed into the soggy wood under the liquid”.

I’m thinking you’re going to be calling everyone on the UF side of this lawsuit an idiot then, because they’re not going to put this in front of a jury. Could get lucky and the case is outright dismissed, but more than likely it will be settled.

Who the real idiots are is whoever thought this kind of money for this kid was ever a good idea.

Can we just blame Kirby Smart for this and take it out on his team? Bring back the bad blood, becasue that's when the Gators play some of their best games... against the buttlickers.

I’d rather him say, “I apologize to the University of Florida, its athletic program, ita athletes, administrators, and its fan base. I want to make clear that I brought this action, at the instruction of my head coach, Kirby Smart, for the sole purpose of embarrassing University of Florida so that Coach Smart’s team receives a significant recruiting advantage over its arch-nemesis. I regret my actions and hope to learn from this experience and grow as a better man.”

OMG, you're right. Hadn't noticed before but yes, that's quite the embarrassment.

OK. Thanks. I didn't think I had so badly ignored any of the forums I handle. LOL! :)

I'm not sure by whom, but that part is handled completely separate from any of us admins or the moderators in the forums.

If we were going to shell out 13 million for a QB, can we have Trask back?

Not trying to be a male "Karen" but seeing his name on the front page, I find, is very irratating, considering this kid now has an agenda
to drag UF through the mud. I'm sure this will go on for months.

It’s weird that 2023 recruits are still listed at all since we’ve signed our 2024 class and are working on 2025

Ruiz claimed that LifeWallet didn't have a $9.5M contract with Rashada....he didn't say anything about the Gator Collective's offer. The Gator Collective one posted online that was shared in this thread and does add up to ~$13M was not signed, so take it for what its worth.

I doubt it’s all on the up and up but I doubt anyone wants to sit in front of a judge with a bunch of fabricated nonsense. There’s some truth somewhere that they are working with.

Yet at some point, it’s better to lose the money than settle. Pleading to some total bs sometimes just can’t be stomached.
