Baseball at Vandy (Hoover), Tue 5/21, 5:55 pm EDT

Speaking of Hoover and way off topic...back in the 70's one of the local surfers here, Glenn Denman, was caught using a vacuum cleaner to pleasure himself (so the story goes) and so earned the nickname "Hoover" from then on. Man he hated that nickname, but we all thought it was pretty funny......

 

Was this necessary.

(Good ole Mac Guscette- we sure could have used a top notch defensive catcher with gun for an arm and btw- hitting .326 this year)

 

When you look at the Vandy home and away records you wonder if they steal signs.

I never got catchers throwing out scuffed baseballs. As a former pitcher I loved getting a scuffed baseball.

 

Leads SEC this season with 17 runners gunned down including today’s game.

I’ve never seen anything like catchers AND PITCHERS throwing out baseballs that have been hit or struck the dirt. Those were gold in our day.
