Liberty Univ has 5 QB on their roster. I agree with you we need more depth at QB. We might’ve beaten F$U if we had better depth at QB this year
Or if we had a backup QB with any significant game experience. I hope we're able to get DJ some meaningful snaps.
I guess. Although I'd say that is a hard sell to get a quality player to be a 3rd stringer. Although Kiffen can do it. Last year, he had 3 or 4 that I thought could be starters.
Kingsley wasn't much of a contributor this season. Fortunately, his backup got a lot of experience replacing him.
I don't disagree that Billy should hire an OC and special teams coach. But what we really, really need very badly is a defense. Our D cost us at least 3 wins this season, not our O or our special teams.
For whatever reason, seeing it laid out like that just has me concerned. Need a lot of guys to take big steps in year 2/3 or we're going to have issues. Biggest concern for me is a lack of "the" guys, those handful of players that change the way the opponent game plans and elevates those around them.
I can't wait to see a healthy Aaron Gates. RJ Moten, Dakota Mitchell - these 2 are gone, correct? Ja'Markis Weston - should be gone Josiah Davis - interesting kid. small time recruit, small high school no one ever heard of, said to be fast, good athlete.
Worth re-evaluating now that we've brought more players in through the portal. QB - B (same) RB - B+ (due to Baugh emerging) WR - A- (Picking up Badger was huge since can't just focus on Tre) TE - C (same) OT - C+ (added Manuel who should be a good depth piece) OG - C (slight bump due to George moving inside & Lovett emerging) C - B- (lowballed Slaughter, added Zandamela but probably won't play much this year) DT - B+ (added frosh Robinson, Lyons emerging) Edge - B (same even with Gumbs addition) LB - B (added Pup, finally have some depth here) CB - B- (got rid of Kimber & added Grimsley & McClain) S - B+ (added vets Turner & Douglas who are 2 of our top 3) STs - F (not changing until proven on the field)
I'm not sure what brings all the hate with special teams. Personnel wise we had the 30th kicker and the 2nd punter. Return game has pretty much become irrelevant in the SEC, so I don't know how we would be much worse than a B or C personnel wise.
Agree. The specialists are good. I think the angst has more to do with the organization as whole …coaching.
He's faster than I thought. Found some T&F times for him. He's run a 10.8 100m. Nice to have someone other than Mizell with similar good on the outside.
I'm sure if someone ran the numbers and looked at everything unbiased we would probably be "average" or maybe even a little better in our Special Teams. The issue is that when we make a mistake, it usually happens to be at the worst possible time. That, along with some of the "unique" calls against us (2 players with same number, jumping over a defender, etc.) Makes it seem a lot worse than it really is....
Special teams plays need to be set up properly at least 95% of the time. Individual players can still be good but if we can't reach that level with all 11 players, then it's an automatic F.
By the same analysis every position on defense should be an F. Might as well not talk about personnel at any position then.
