Sorry I missed the agony and the ecstasy (good name for a movie), but I enjoyed watching the recording later. Thanks, @apkgator for filling in for me. Much appreciated! Lots of chatter that UF may add a game next Saturday if necessary.....smart if they pull it off. Playing an extra game last week would have risked a loss that might have been a killer, next Saturday you would know if you need it or not so no risk
Lol......I think it would fall into the "if necessary" category. Curious who Sully could pick up if necessary.....Famu, Bethune, somebody bounced from the ASUN tourney in Deland? And there still seems to be differing opinion on if you need to be "over 500" or just have a 500 record. Saw Sully comment that they have to be 500, but have seen the over comments as well.
Haven’t seen anything official either other than what WES posted. Kendall Rogers and D1 baseball say over .500.
Agree @uf1998—but there is no way to predict what road the media will go down on this (politics included)…..
Personally I feel Cags deserves it more, no disrespect to Condon who has had an incredible offensive season, but being a two-way player is just a completely different animal. I'd feel a lot better about Cags' chances if he personally shut down Condon today. Not that voters should be voting based on one game, but these two players are so neck and neck that head-to-head has to count for something. Those at bats today are going to be intense!
Must win game. Both D1 and Baseball America have the Gators on the outside looking in. Win today and I think we are in but not a 100% lock. Lose today and it's over without a deep run in tourney- which is highly unlikely.
Would think so, but the opposite is also true. Players on winning teams usually get the nod so Gators need to win and make the ncaas.
First, let me say it's good to have Gatorgal back after a very grueling two weekends. Second, GO GATORS!!!
If the Gators get rained out today, Ole Miss wins today, and both lose Tuesday, they end 27-27 (53<56 regular season) and 28-28 (55<56 regular season). They should play each other on Thursday instead. Heck, use the Birmingham Barons' stadium; they're on the road. The winner effectively says to the selection committee: you want an 11th SEC team? That's us. If he dominates today, that's a good case for him. Particularly... How about Jac hits a homer, drives in two, scores two and pitches six innings of.. let's not get greedy.. one run ball striking out Condon twice. Gators up 3-1 or 4-1 at the end of six and then the rains come. A man can dream, can't he? (Missed yesterday's game at work but watched the highlights this morning -- I've had my serving of Neely-related crow. Only a small portion though; his ERA is still 6.5+. That having been said.. I'll go back to following Gal's directive re: a game-thread being on the current game.)
My quote was from last year's postseason manual (NCAA official document). In fairness, I haven't seen this years, but it would be surprising if they changed that aspect for baseball. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
