I did take your suggestion, and I had it wide-open until last week. And then I closed up the gates and killed off all of the negativity and the Libby’s and all the chaos that comes with them.

I never blocked anyone even when I could. Seems a little weak to need to block people. And I’ve never understood the need to announce that you blocked.

But I will also pile on and agree that blocking, outside of football actual, is weak. You are basically creating a circle-j of validation, which is what the rest of SM is designed for. Mods here prevent ludicrous vitriol that the “purge” now pollutes other Gator sites with. Talk about bad for your mental health. Some of them are just plain unfit for society. And a couple were lefties. I find you unfit for my particular perspective, which is admittedly hard to love, so I’m not bothered when you don’t like it. But you ain’t nothing even approaching those menaces. And I don’t think there is a single true WTF left on these boards.
I'm ambivalent about the block feature. When it comes to blocking a whole bunch of folks because they disagree with one's ideology, I agree with you that it's weak. OTOH, I blocked Q a couple years ago because his persistent covid misinformation and posting/ratings style was offensive to me. It's the sort of ignorance I can't afford in my life. Same w 95. Didn't bring any sort of dialogue, just snide remarks and refusal to think. I've tolerated @Orange_and_Bluke, though, so I should get some kinda reward for that, right?
Fair enough. Perhaps “weak” is a little harsh. I also find many of those things objectionable. But it’s also real life. Q’s Covid fixation is a reality that I need to at least be aware of, IMO. I once insulated myself on Twitter to the point that I was Always Righteous. As is the point of Twitter. So much so that I not only didn’t like it, it was having a negative effect on my day to day being, and I no longer have an account. This was BEFORE Elon destroyed it. I ain’t mad about either choice. I’m thankful, I guess, that O&B hasn’t “cancelled” me?? I mean it’s silly in theory, although sadly it does mean something given the real world. I’m a teacher. I can scream about phones and SM all I want. All that would just add up to me being Left Behind, even worse than our boy Kirk.
