MSN It appears to be at least partially in the context of his papacy and the fight he’s gotten here in the US. But it’s still a remarkable quote.
Got my attention. That's about 3 weeks old and was a continuation of some remarks from months before. Much discussion It would literally take thousands of words to capture all the background that led to this. But at a highly simplified level, there is a very well-funded, very conservative movement, very well represented in the USCCB, that are doing everything they can, both within ecclesial church law and outside it, to resist this Pope, and already pre-conclaving his successor. Mike Lewis is a great feed on this. He had a podcast with Jim Gaffigan's wife trying to support this Pope. - https://twitter.com/mfjlewis Here is a thread he put out today This is the piece he was drafting on I doubt this is of interest to many except me. But I would submit it has a lot more impact on the lives of all Americans and most of you may realize
As a Catholic I will truly say that I don't acknowledge his authority. Pope Benedict is still the Pope as you are Pope until you die. Pope Benefict was forced out by the more liberal factions of the Catholic Church. Given I'll admit I'm the type who still thinks the Catholic mass has been cheapened up. Give me the true glory and reverence of the old style Latin Mass any day of the week over the Christian-lite ceremony that the modern Catholic mass has become. Vatican II started the destruction of the Catholic Church and it's continued ever since.
Yeah, none of that is true. You are allowed to resign as Pope. Multiple Popes have done so in history. BTW, Benedict XVI died over a year ago. Strange that you didn't notice when the Pope died, as a Catholic.
He may have said something similar prior, but that quote is from his 60 minutes interview this coming Sunday.
Did he tear down his VATICAN wall like he told the U.S.A. to do on our southern border? Hypocrite clown.
You realize that you can just walk into the Vatican's territory from Italy, right? You can walk straight into St. Peter's square with the only indication of passing from Italy to the Vatican being a white line on the ground.
There is not a wall "around the Vatican." Here is the main entry point to the Vatican. Notice the lack of a wall. I've been there. You clearly haven't.
Calling the Pope a clown? I'm agnostic but please you need to have some respect for the leader of the Catholic Church - millions and millions of Catholics
I think the Pope is thinking and talking in a narrow sense of the word "conservative". He's talking about religious conservatives: the people who want to return to the church before the 1966 Vatican II Council changes. They want mass in Latin, they want LGBTQ outlawed, etc. I am sure he would agree that some things are worth conserving, such as natural resources, wildlife, and things like that. I'm not sure what Trump-supporting political conservatives are trying to conserve, except maybe racism and a sense of superiority over other countries and ways of life, plus their hatred for all things LGBTQ. Maybe they want to conserve the 1950's.
Well, there are barricades there, except for that 35-40' where there aren't. To someone triggered by a psychological need for walls to compartmentalize their life, that's enough.
