Personally, I don't fault celebrities/athletes for using their platforms even when I am critical of their views. I do wonder how Laura Ingraham and others who told Lebron James to "shut up and dribble" feel about this guy.

You raise the key point. No one is saying he shouldn't be allowed to speak. He's just suffering criticism for his views, which leads to the victimization claims for the faux First Amendment invocation. Those like Ingraham actually argue that athletes should be silent. Let him say whatever he wants. But he is not entitled to a respectful response.

Tebow was better than at least 3 (to 5) quarterbacks who started in the NFL, throughout his playable years--and more durable than probably 28 such qb's.

Dude was straight up black balled, for wearing his faith on his sleeve.

Nah he sucked at job compared to Butker. And Russell Wilson wears his faith on his sleeve just as much if not more than Tebow did, he seems to be doing just fine.

Project 2025 and The Handsmaid Tale, folks.

The GOP wants women at home, pregnant, barefoot and silent. They want to reverse their ability to vote.

A woman voting for the modern GOP is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

I think a slight difference would be he was asked to give the speech. He didn’t just start spouting off about social issues. I doubt many if any knew of his opinion until this speech.

Nothing burger until the triggered people bent it out of shape.

...TO a Catholic college--he simply delivered a commencement address to a small Catholic college...

    ...but WHO made it news?

...and HOW has it become news?

oh yeah....pearl clutchin' libbies, flabbergasted into righteous indignation, over an athlete, straying off the res, off script, off *sanctioned* political opinion, and daring to deliver a speech that championed conservative values....TO other like minded conservatives.

I don't care about Butker, or his opinions. If he and his family want to live the way they do, it's their choice. What I don't like is people like Butker being all sanctimonious telling me, my wife, and my family how to live. Hey Harrison, eff off! My wife worked hard, has a Masters degree, and while I make plenty of money, there aren't a lot of professionals in her field, and she makes more. We've been married for 27 years, two kids, and we have no desire, zero, none, to live like Butker and his family.

This works for us, and I would never tell anyone this is the only way to have a successful marriage and be happy. Butker's life works for him, but he also makes over $4 million a year. I wonder if he'd feel the same way making $40,000/year?

This reminded me immediately of Jameis Winston, when some educational idiots invited him to speak to a group of elementary school children. Here’s what he told the kids:

“All my young boys, stand up. The ladies, sit down,” Winston said. “But all my boys, stand up. We strong, right? We strong! We strong, right?…. But the ladies, they’re supposed to be silent, polite, gentle. My men, my men (are) supposed to be strong.”
