Agreed there, as any program with an ounce of integrity should. I think you could at least understand that referring to a player often called "Rapies" Winston on here caused me to question and I didn't track the context from the back and forward.

Cormani has just shown lack of dedication and immaturity if we believe his last two coaches. Kids don’t realize how much competition they are up against and believe all the hype. I get being young but I hope this kid does a 360 and capitolizes on his opportunity. Too many times these kids they are a blessing to their team. I’m on the train now but I still hope ETN sucks.

I have two degrees from UF, and I have no record of being a closet FSU fan here, or anywhere else. I do not share the deep hatred for FSU or Miami that many of you have. I'm sorry, I can't manufacture feelings to fit in with the group. I certainly don't like them, though.

Thank you for the compliments. I don't think I spread anything about AH, that isn't already well reported. I did make an error to call him a convicted murderer and tie it to our championships. I quickly took ownership of the error and corrected myself.

All I can say is that it is naive to think that FSU is unique in this regard.

Request denied, because I'm not throwing shade at UF. I love my school as much as anyone. I'm also not foolish enough to think we are above reproach.

I don't understand the hate for Cormani right now. He hasn't committed a crime or flashed violent behavior. He simply changed mind on his college choice when someone dangled more money than he ever seen in front of this 18 year old kid. I've seen much more grown and "righteous" men fold for less money. And it's not like he committed to us and took up a spot in the class until he he committed last minute and screwed us. We just assumed he was a Gator and when he wasn't it felt like we lost something we never even had.

We are truly in the talent acquisition business. We've added a ton of talent. Jameer Grimsley was a borderline 5 star top CB, Cormani was a 5*+ and #1 CB, the #1 IOL from last cycle in 5* Zandamela, 5*'s #1 DL LJ mcray and #1QB DJ lagway, two of the top 7 LBers from last cycle in Graham and Chiles, Blue chip LB Pup Howard, national title game starting Safety Asa Turner..

We about to add '25 #1 Safety DJ Pickett and '25 #1 IOL Soloman Thomas.

It's great to be a florida gator

I understand that. But you were comparing the two situations as if it were the same scénario. It's why I disagreed with your take. But you're correct. Every school is guilty of something.

    How were they not similar?

Jameis alleged but not convicted, FSU won a championship with him.

Hernandez suspected but not convicted, UF won a championship with him.

If we are going to get on a high horse about allegations or suspicions about players from other schools, we better take a good look in the mirror first. I inadvertently mentioned the murder conviction and dude ran with it as if it was my main point and distorted the whole meaning of what I was saying. My mistake though… I opened the door for the hijack.

    2 things-
    1) When you accuse someone of murder AND imply anyone at UF knew about it and played him anyway, that's a serious serious charge. Don't be shocked when someone calls you on that. When you accuse my school of doing that I will hijack all day. That charge deserves an answer. That's big big stuff. If you don't see the problem of accusing a whole school, athletic dept. administration of looking the other way at murder charges so someone can play football... just wow. You clearly have a blind spot or you are willfully being obtuse.

    2) I've asked you twice now, so here is #3. WHAT EXACTLY WAS AH SUSPECTED OF WHILE HE WAS AT UF.
    You've never answered.
I'm a crazy Gator fan with a good memory.
I never heard one thing that AH was suspected of while he was here. (Outside of an altercation w/ a bouncer.)

To argue James vs. Hernandez with someone obsessed with dragging our program down to ref$u level is a waste of time. I don’t know what agenda is driving you - either anti-UF or just typical scrambling for high ground - but if anybody is on a “high horse “ here it’s you. Keep defending Jameis Winston here - you’ll get some high marks from the TH crowd, but not from true Gator fans

It’s my school just as much as anyone’s. You don’t love the school anymore than I do.

Accuse? Are you serious? AH was convicted of murder. Who does not know this? I already said several times that I should not have correlated his actual murder conviction with his time in Gainesville. That was an inadvertent action and I recanted it already. To be clear, I didn’t accuse the school of looking the other way at a murder charge, I was talking to a poster who looked the other way at character issues of our own players, ex post facto. You are distorting what I said and mixing up the timeline and context of my conversation with the other poster.

As far as what he was suspected of in Gainesville, I already answered it, but here is an article just so you can stop whining about it.

“Gainesville police have closed a 10-year-old case in which former NFL star and Florida Gator Aaron Hernandez was once accused of shooting two men, according to documents obtained by The Sun.

GPD closed the 2007 case last month after one witness recanted his statement naming Hernandez as the shooter, despite initial reports identifying NFL star Reggie Nelson and another man with Hernandez’ description as the culprits. Neither Nelson nor Hernandez was ever charged in the case.”

    BULL
    SHIT

Aaron Hernandez WAS NOT convicted of murder while at UF. Keep twisting the truth to suit your agenda, whatever the hell that is. Why aren’t you bothered by the fact that Hernandez WAS convicted of murder while playing for the Patriots, yet nobody cares about that because this is all about trashing UF

You’re correct. But please take your argument directly to @murphree_hall . All I (and a couple others here) are doing is refuting his incessant effort to trash our UF with false statements about AH. Without his attacks, there is no argument. But if he keeps pushing his agenda, we will keep saying he’s full of shit - right on up until this thread is locked.

Wanne - Look at it this way - When one is a #1 or #2 in the entire cycle, like Cormani was - what does EVERYONE say - Can't miss, generational talent, starter day 1, NFL first rounder, yada, yada, yada. It's not hard to see how the kid got the "big head" when he is celebrated by everyone.

Here is my take. He is a Gator now, that makes the controversey a "dead issue" for me.
He is ours and we are his. Like you I was upset with how it went down, but thats past news.
    He's a GATOR.

Interestingly, on a podcast yesterday, it was reported CBN put it up for a vote and the team "approved" the "take".

So, like you, I am optimistic the young man will continue and "prosper" in his football career as a Gator and that this "second chance"
is good for everyone. We shall see.
