I was wondering the other day where The Swamp ranks among other SEC stadiums in seating capacity. Here is a list of where we stand in the SEC (seating capacity) and how we rank in the nation.

Steven Spurrier coined the name The Swamp and made if famous... but what made it great was for the Gators was how few times Steve Spurrier's teams lost games in The Swamp? And it's also famous for the epicly large crowds that came, and still come, to see the Florida Gators play there. Can you name how many times his teams lost at home on Steven Spurrier field, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium while he was The Gators' football coach?

    Records at Home

    Spurrier 68-5
    Zook 13-6
    Meyer 36-5
    Musch 18-8
    Mac 13-3
    Mul 19-4
    Napier 9-4

    Fun facts:
Zook, Meyer, Muschamp and Mullen all won their final home games, Spurrier and Mac did not.
Spurrier and Mullen never lost more then 1 home game in a row, Meyer and Muschamp lost 3 in a row, Zook and Mac lost 2 in a row, Napier is also on a 2 game losing streak.
The last ever tie at Florida Field was in 1985 vs Rutgers

    Some other historical home records

    Hall 22-7-1
    Pell 21-7-2

68-5 is what made Steve Spurrier great... and what made The Swamp such a hard place for opposing teams to win in. Gator Football must keep this winning tradition in The Swamp.

Once again we're simply the middle of the pack.

What goes up must come down. We won’t get back sitting on our hands thinking the logo just deserves to be on top.

Tell the SEC to stop inviting teams with huge fanbases and stadiums to match into the conference.

The only stadiums that have surpassed ours that were below us in 1990 are LSU and Bama. Bama left Legion field permanently and poured all their resources into their on-campus stadium which IMO was a shadow of BHG in 1990. Now its one of the nicest facilities in the SEC. I haven't been to the coonass stadium since 1995. I know they've made it bigger, but it was a decrepit dump when I was there. Anyone know if they made it any nicer or just bigger.

Looking at our roster right now from two years ago, it certainly does look like it helped

Just completed a survey re: the stadium. I’d love to see results once all responses have been collected.

I did that too... I laughed out loud when they asked if I like to have some party area in the stadium, much like Tampa Bay Bucs have in their NFL stadium. What kind of freaking clown question was that?

The whole thing was awkward and geared to see if I wanted an NFL type stadium... one that if we got would gut seating by more than 10,000 seats.

These people must think we're dumb and don't understand what they're trying to do. Screw the NFL and anything resembling the NFL type stadiums.

Leave The Swamp alone... pressure wash it... maybe put a coat of white paint on the stadium steps while your at it...

I made sure they knew what I thought of their crappy survey via email. Suffice to say my opinion matches yours.

What about combining the last two ranking threads? How do we rank according to the seating capacity of the nearest Waffle House?
