Cormani Visiting? Is It April fools again??

The trash from THFSG come over to ‘visit’ from time to time

 

No NIL until he’s played a season. We already know he had an attitude problem and sucked at Colorado

 

I don't believe Napier will take him. His emphasis has been on good team members who have good work ethics and conduct themselves well. Cormani has not demonstrated that he fits that bill.

 

Why even agree to a visit then?

 

My first instinct towards players who spurned UF is usually a defensive one but maybe I'm gettng soft now. If his heart was at UF and coaches want him/he puts in work so be it.

I think any of us who attended school have a number of stories of friends/classmates who just weren't in the right headspace and needed to transfer closer home, or away to new scenery and a fresh start.

Who knows what the kid had going on, or what influential figures were in his life when he made his initial decision. Maybe he just wasn't into it at Colorado because he regretted his decision and wanted to be elsewhere the whole time. Normal students fail all the time because they just didn't want to be there.

Sometimes it takes making the wrong decisions to grow up. Unfortunately, with social media now most of these athletes are having to do it in the public eye.

 

Is part of the enigma I guess. I'm like you Skink, why is this even in the media cycle? Billy could have just said "not interested".
Billy may see something based on how CM approached UF. I think BN has been masterful handling the locker room, of course that
is the perspective of an outsider with no real "locker room" source of inf. outside of these boards or social media.

As stated previously, I imagine the negotiations with CM and his handlers are pretty rigid about competing and handling oneself
should UF agree to offer.

Well I am not "In the know" but ..... yes he was flirting with Miami but didn't all the services, especially On3 CB him to UF?
In fact, my recollection is that On3 were airing a pre-recorded "Cormani to UF" announcement then had to yank it off the air.

Point being, many of those "in the know" thought he was a silent, ready to announce for UF.

Not that any of that matters, the kid left many in the profession troubled by his erratic behavior both before and after his Buffalo committment.
He has to prove to new suitors, including "UF" that he is ready to be a serious and "quiet" competitor. I'm afraid his "nonsense" bafoonery days
have hit the wall and he better "man-up" if he wants serious consideraton going forward.

 

Good point. I guess he's giving him the benefit of the doubt, but, it just doesn't feel like he will take him in the end, to me. Not to mention he might just be trolling us again anyway.

 

Was his recruitment a mess and handled horribly? Absolutely yes
I'm just not sure why everyone is so thrilled with D'Antre Robinson (UF favored, signed with Texas), Pup Howard (UF favored signed with USC). Let's be real, if we only want kids that handle their recruitment properly we will have a thin roster

 

He posed for a picture with some punk ass kid wearing a shirt that was basically the middle finger to UF. I despised him for that then - not feeling welcome arms without a big public apology to Billy Napier and Gator Nation. Screw that nasty trolling nonsense

 

Again....you want a roster of kids that handled their recruitment in a pure classy and professional way you will have a thin roster. I hate that stuff too, I don't like it when our recruits lie or troll the opponents either. But it's more the norm than the exception I'm afraid

 

Good points. I do think Napiers (show no bitterness) and treat them well attitude toward recruits, has proven to be fruitful.
At least in terms of ultimately landing some kids. Although the 1,000 gorilla in the room is "why didn't they sign with UF to begin with".

I think the answer to that Gorillas presense is a stronger NIL program (and I think Florida Victorious is headed in the right direction), and of course, success on the field.

 

Yes, that was innappropriate and a rather low blow.
Crap like that speaks directly to character. UF spent some serious time
and recruiting money on him. Throwing a "diss" at the Gators was completely uncalled for.

I love to see redemption stories. Would be great to see this young man grow and learn from his mistakes and reach his goals.

From a purely selfish Gator standpoint, how great of a PR story would it be for Billy to graciously bring in a guy who disrespected us, flamed out, got called out by Deion, and have him be rehabilitated into a star at UF. How does Deion ever beat us for a recruit again if it’s down to UF vs Colo in a final list… assuming similar NIL compensation.

 

Well that is the risk. I think the PWO lessens the committment level from UF, but it does not matter how one "gets' into the locker room, it's what they do and how they act once they are "In".

Thats why I would think UF would circle the wagons and make some pretty sharp demands of Cormani, should an agreement be reached.

 

I want to hear an apology for publicly shitting all over UF during recruitment

 

Perhaps it's to get a read on the young man's current attitude and possible suitability for the culture BN has installed at UF. Billy has been accused of many things by some in the fan base, but acting precipitously or rashly isn't one of them. At this point, I'd assume we're still kicking tires and looking under the hood. But if CM, mom or the agent start in with any monetary demands before ever suiting up, I hope BN breaks it off in mid-sentence, wishes them luck elsewhere and sends them on their way. This kid is likely on chance number last - no matter where he lands. I would suggest that he needs to be very much aware of the tenuousness of his situation in this moment.
