Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Moms here and the Daughters/DIL of our posters!! I know I’m an ass , but I do have a special place in my heart for moms and how they got us thru “those years “. My mother was so special and it wasn’t her fault I turned in to Wingtee!
@wingtee I know you can relate—y’all probably had this guy on your team as well. Our second baseman Denny Williams was quite fond of bouncing into the locker room on Mother’s Day Sunday and loudly announcing “Ok all you Mothers—I’m glad you’re here—now let’s go play some freaking baseball”!……
The wife decided to use her Mother’s Day to make a 2 hr trek up to Gainesville so our son could see Cags’ last game at Condron, so us two and the kids will be on the berm today. Good mom. Go gators.
It would be nice to finish the home season with a win. GO GATORS! FYI- Looks like Ty broke his right wrist. Video shows his right arm slamming in to wall. Ty and that wall are quite familiar with each other. 74nole: Have you heard of Earl Moore?
I hope Ty comes back for his senior year. 3:1 K:BB ratio and a nearly 400 BABIP does not usually an MLB career make. But, if he chooses to go to the pros, I wish him all the best. Aside: Earl Moore (Earl Moore - Wikipedia) threw the AL's first no-hitter... and then lost the game in the 10th.
You lose all your bargaining power by coming back. It rarely makes much sense if your goal is to play pro ball. Guys like Jud and Sproat were able to do it because of the free covid year, so they still had some negotiating power after a fourth year.
Ty has had by far his best year in all aspects so it all depends on where he is picked in the draft. He just turned 21 so not as old as some third year guys... I'd like to see him come back but if he's picked in top 6/7 rounds he's likely gone.
Top 10 he's gone and should go. I'm not sure he projects that high, but draft is such a shot in the dark
I’d love to have him back. MLB draft is not firmly slotted though. He can possibly get 6th round money as the last pick in the draft. Likewise he can get 7th round money even if taken in the 2nd. This year he has a lot of power to negotiate. Next year he has none. I don’t think the draft position itself is as important here as in other sports. In football if you have a legit chance at propelling yourself from a 7th round pick to a 2nd round pick, it’s kind of a no brainer to come back. In baseball, you could end up with the same paycheck either way. I want to say Sproat got the same money he was offered the year before and Jud got less, but that may be wrong. Both those guys still had a year of eligibility to leverage. Ty won’t have that. *sorry, didn’t realize this was the game thread. Feel free to trash if you want, gal.
