I am so pumped about the new coaches on defense, Harris and Chapman. Just what the doctor ordered ( no pun intended). Both are articulate communicators and quite intense. Football, and life in general, is about attitude, mental preparation, and practicing fundamentals. Chapman's remarks really resonated with me.
"I coach them the way I expect them to play. Intense, detailed, discipline, relentless mentality, effort, urgency. If I expect them to play that way then I need to coach them that way."
For years as a Gator fan, I have watched the mental side of the game completely void on the field. Apathy described the coaching staff in the past--the coaches taught and the players bought--apathy! Here’s why I AM SO VERY HOPEFUL. We finally have a coach restoring the mental aspect to the game.

We do but not from 15 yards back from the line of scrimmage (like I saw in the game). Line up like man on man coverage then blitz and drop someone back or fill with the safety or something.

That was on our last position coaches... lazy-azz and worthless. I hope we get that sorted out before the football season starts.

But in the O&B game lining up back is not really indicative of where the real starters in games will be positioned. And if they are... that would be a huge step backwards in defensive set/s protocol. I think the basics of blocking and tackling are the two main things on defense that they were focused on the most. And the tackling was much improved. Tackling still needs to be practiced all the time becasue of the short "shelf-life" of tackling properly... it is a very perishable skill.

Did notice the improved tackling. That was a nice surprise. And the DB's were breaking on the ball too, other than those two picks.

Corman McClain is supposedly coming to Florida for a visit, and I very much opposed the idea at first. I am rethinking this, because dumb mistakes are made when you are young. Plus, I read this on X from Will Miles:
"UGA just had 3 DBs drafted in the top-89. Bama had 2 in the top-41 (and 3 drafted overall). For all the talk of “the trenches,” elite defenses these days are built at corner and safety."

If Coach still wants him on his team, I'll support it. I wouldn't have gone and asked Coach to think about it though. LOL! :)

This 100%... Why? Because everything we've heard about this kid has been filtered though a Seminole coach that may or may not have embellished the kid's NIL to begin with.

We honestly don't know the truth about this kid. I trust Napier and company to get to the bottom of what is going on with him.

I don’t like him either and don’t want him but if he comes, I’ll support it and get over myself. Hopefully he will grow up and be a great player.

We do know he flipped from us to Miami to Dion. He has two strikes already.

We know a lot about this player through his own shenanigans. Whether he was being led by adults who should know better is up for speculation, but just because he claims to be "changed" doesn't mean that he is.

Dieon is a turd, but when he says the dude couldn't be bothered to show up for meetings, be on time, and is unprepared in his film study, then I believe him. Then he hits the door the first time he runs into a little adversity. To me this screams loudly that he still nothing more than a prima-donna looking for a payday that doesn't want to work.

Deion ran off Sean Lewis who was probably his best coach on staff. McClain may or may not work out but I'm not sure I have any confidence in Deion's assessment considering he demoted his best coach/coordinator last season as a scapegoat move.

The difference is that Bama and Georgia were equally strong up front.

It’s a nice thought, but these past years have not been rewarding. I would personally love a helluva lot more wins.

So he may have made a mistake... family members might have something to do with that too. Maybe other people in his life had something to do with his flipping?

    Is that an unforgivable mistake?

Maybe we should relax about the pressures these kids face, the Gators have been on the right side of that (unfortunate, first team mistake) decision with players too. It happens all the time.

These kids are being used by others... adults in their lives.

Quit your complaining about these kids, becasue kids make mistakes too. You are NOT the coach so your complaint here is duly noted by us... we the people in the peanut gallery. And... I doubt the coaches care about what you nor I think about him.

Do you ever wonder why a kid grow-up "dreaming of being a Gator" only to change his mind later on signing day? I have a theory... maybe Mommy and Daddy's dreams are different than the kid's dream.

Do you really think these moves (recruiting decisions) are done by these kids without the parents or other adults being involved?
