What if Shula beat Urbie in the recruiting battle (recall that TT said in his 1st book that Shula did a better job recruiting him, but he felt that he belonged at UF) for Tebow, Shula likely does well enough to stay at Bammer at least a few more years, so Nick Saban is not hired there in '07 and sticks with the Fins until another Top of the Mountain job opens. Urban does not get his generational QB and all of the players that followed TT to UF and gets canned/moves on after another year or so. UF is looking and so is Saban...
I’ve often wonder if it would have turned out differently for Shula had Tyrone Pothro not broke his leg against us. I realize in this day and age most coaches leave starters in longer than necessary but no reason for him to have been in the game at that point. That game seamed to be a high-point with a downward progression after.
If the Dolphins had just taken Drew Brees from the chargers like Saban had wanted he likely doesn't leave Miami when Bama is looking for a coach. Maybe he ends up in college and maybe he doesn't but that was the first domino followed by a desperate and unethical Bama Program that promised to give Saban everything he wanted, rules be damned.
What is LSU took Steve Spurrier to be their head football coach before he went on to coach the Gators?
What if Paul, George, John and Ringo preferred blues, booze, broads, heroin and cocaine instead of folk music, meditation and acid? Would they be the Rolling Stones?
Actually now I'm reminded that Shula lost multiple games his last year in large part because he had a kicker that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Want to say the kid missed 3 or 4 in one game and Shula took he for continuing to try for field goals. Had a lot to do with him losing his job.
What if I said that I sometimes wake up in a different reality with a slightly different history... where almost everything is the same, almost everything.
