1 o’clock is just a bad time and again I feel like the earliest you move a home game is two or 230 as you’re getting no crowd at that time

im quite aware of the respective sports and the fan impact. I guess we just disagree on baseball. . It may not be as intense as football, but I can think of several venues where the home crowd is a factor. How big s factor is subjective of course. .

, I don’t know… Baseball definitely has a home-field advantage especially on a Friday night and Saturday night game and you are reducing the crowd by 70% by playing essentially a noon game on Friday. In a season where one game may make the very difference for us being an NCAA tournament team or not a home field crowd of 7000 as opposed to 1500 to me is a very big deal

Good point. I catch a few away games- frequently games in Jax, plus Miami and Stetson this year- the large number of Gator fans in someone else's home stadium certainly affected the game atmosphere. Teams that bring fans to Gvl seem to help them and fans that show up for neutral site games- SECT, Regionals - seem to matter. I agree that the impact is felt more in other sports in some ways, but when added to the home knowledge, home cooking (the kitchen kind AND the umpire kind), home beds and batting second, home field matters a lot in bsb. I'll be there and will miss the bigger night game crowd, but it will come down to team performance. Playing two on Saturday might mean a somewhat larger game 1 crowd, but a DH is drudgery for playters and fans, Plkaying on Friday means more rest for the small, inconsistent Gator bullpen. GHaving Friday arms more rested on Sunday is a big deal.

Especially when you’re going to lose at least three or 4000 fans with this time exchange. A 1 o’clock game is very hard to make. Playing two on Saturday makes much more sense

And all this time I’ve been under the impression that the time change was for inclement weather conditions…..

Personally I’m glad we’re not playing twice on Saturday solely because it means Jac won’t be coming off a doubleheader when he pitches again. He probably goes deeper into the game against Tennessee without the doubleheader the day before. Pitching the second game of the Arkansas doubleheader also put him at a disadvantage. It’ll be nice to see a normal start for him again.

I hear ya but teams will work him while on base and There’s a lot of time between Friday and Sunday to work him, especially with as much as he gets on base.
I’d also say I would not rule out a double header. Still take that over a 1:00 Friday.

Well if he would just hit home runs instead of singles or taking walks he wouldn't have to worry about being "worked" while on 1st base. :D

Weather radar looks very concerning for a 1 PM start. I'm starting to wonder if it all blows thru and we start this one closer to 6:30. If not look for a DH tomorrow.

I am here at my office about a mile from the stadium and it is almost dark outside. Not looking like good weather for the 1:00 start. Maybe it will pass through before the starting time.

But imagine how we are impacting the opponents pitching staff making them burn arms throwing over

Raining in Gainesville right now, heavier rains on the way. Weather Underground shows Thunderstorms/Winds moving to Scattered Thunderstorms around 11 am, with those stopping between 1 & 2 pm. Cloudy until 4 pm when Isolated Thunderstorms to Scattered Thunderstorms come back until after 10 pm.

Rain has stopped in Gainesville as of about 10:30. The front is moving more quickly eastward, although there are some storms north of the area still moving from west to east. Weather.com & Weather Underground now showing only Mostly Clody until about 8 pm. Should be able to play ball.
