Had to rewind the georgia game...thought I heard beth mowing say the Tennessee Tigers were playing....that's exactly what I heard! She knows very little about these teams she broadcasts

 

10 seed Tigers... thought I head same thing lol but agree in general.

 

I honestly don’t think she knows what sport she’s watching half the time.

 

She does like to say,”Bama and the Rhoads House” and talking with and about “Murph”.

 

Backes committed to tranfer to UGA 6/12/23 as reported in the Portal notes. She is a Georgia native who played at Starr's Mill High School in Peachtree City, GA where she won a state championship title in 2021. Chelsey Dobbins was hired as Florida’s pitching coach, according to the Independant Alligator on 6/24/23.

 

I get people don’t like her and that’s fine. But she’s one of the most prepared broadcasters in the business. She knows her stuff and almost never makes factual mistakes.

 

So, BM reading cards and viewing multiple screens with stats prepared by a staff of researchers qualifies as "most prepared"? I wrote her off for good in 2014 after she said during a WCWS finals game that Stephanie Toftt was "the vocal leader of the Gators". The same Stephanie Toftt that rarely showed emotion and just grinded every game. We'll just have to agree to disagree on BM's value to the ESPN softball broadcasts.

As an aside, back in the day when transfers weren't all that common, I'd argue Toftt was the final piece of the puzzle to that amazing WCWS Championship team.

And just so you know, I think Jessica Mendoza is top notch. Because all her knowledge is from a lifetime of being around baseball, her Dad was a coach, and making it to the highest levels of the softball world. Her analysis is formed in her head not from a card.

 

I always mute any game she is calling. On another note, these tournaments are crazy. BYU is taking Okie State to the woodshed. Duke finally won with a two-run walk off in the bottom of the 10th 2-0 against Boston College. Claire Davidson, the ACC player of the year, doubled off the wall and Aminah Vega went yard. Claire Davidson played on the Tampa Mustangs. Incredible team that did not win the national championship although they won a bunch of tournaments. Claire played with Katie, Avery, McKenzie Clark at Clemson and Jenna Laird at Mizzou. That team was loaded.

 

I agree. It is a bit much.

Scrappy, are you and Sandy at the SEC tourney? If so, what’s going on with all those 14 inning games? I settled in to watch the Gators smoke the Dawgs today and was disappointed to see we have to wait another day to eliminate them! Did you guys suffer through those 14 inning games?
