Tell me you don't know what the phrase "competitive market" means without telling me you don't know what the phrase "competitive market" means. Are there multiple competitive products? Yes. Do consumers get to choose amongst those competitive products? Yes. Do businesses get to market and differentiate those competitive products? Yes. As such, the features of a competitive market are met, even if you really, really don't like the product because it has become all about you now.

Who knew you were such an anti-capitalist! OMG, a big company?! In capitalism? That tries to sell their products?! Amazing how powerful framing is.

Every competitive market is manipulated. Want me to prove it? I decide that I want to have my lawn mowed. My preferred vendor lives in Central America but would prefer to live here. OMG, the lawn mowing market is being manipulated!

It is funny watching a person that just waits to talk but never bothers to listen. It is a competitive market by any definition of the term, even if you don't like the product. Terms exist outside of your emotions. They are abstract concepts, not just means by which to express narcissism.

    Trust me I know.

And you are dead wrong on this one. One single buyer did affect the market of the covid shot. The government was the single buyer. Not only were they the single buyer they also attempted to coerce people to take the shot. To this day they are still trying to persuade people to.

Thanks again for this one md. It was a good one. LOL!!!

If only we let the market work with the covid shot!!!

OMG, somebody is trying to persuade you to do something. That is completely at odds with competitive markets, where entities never attempt to persuade you not to do something! Also, the government helped pay to research something?! Unheard of in capitalist countries.

Seriously, if you want to discuss the economics, I am happy to do so. But trying to define something as not a competitive market because the government tries to persuade people to take a product is absurd.

    There was ONE SINGLE BUYER!

That is not a competitive market. You know this!

First of all, that is obviously not true. The US government did not purchase all vaccines administered everywhere in the world. Second, even if there is one purchaser, you can have a competitive market. Let's say that I make a brand of potato chips and sell them only to WalMart. Am I in an uncompetitive market? Nope. Because an end consumer can still choose multiple products.

And, BTW, to your other point, I have never purchased a bag of chips from Frito-Lay either. Only from Publix, Wegmans, Rouse's, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.

The government. Did the government dictate which product that I use or did I get to choose from a selection of three different products? If I got to choose, the market is competitive.

Well, sure, if you want to use those terms like economists use them. But what if we want to use them to prove we are right? Can't we then just assign whatever meaning works best for our argument?

Actually the government did dictate the product you injected yourself with. They bought it. Without them buying it you would have had no product to inject yourself with.

Covid is much better defined by fascism. Certainly not a competitive market LOL!

    Just stop LOL!

You know there was not a competitive market for the covid shot. Now you are trying to compare the vaccine to the whole world lol. A competitive market has many buyers and many sellers. With no barriers to entry. We had one buyer and technically two sellers (JJ was not really homogeneous to the mRNA product). Covid was nothing close to a competitive market.

    Thanks for the laugh though!

That is flat untrue. There were places where the government didn't buy the product and they had products. That is a basic logic fail.

Covid is a disease. It isn't a market. Or an economic or governmental system.

    LOL!!!!

This is comical watching you try to justify the covid shot as being part of a competitive market.

    LOL!!!

False. A market with one buyer can be competitive. Again, competitive refers to the seller. Buyers don't need to compete with each other for a market to be competitive.

Competitive sellers do not need to sell undifferentiated products (that is the word an economist would use) in order for a market to be competitive. And you apparently have no idea what a barrier to entry is.

Yes, I imagine to a person whose knowledge of economics appears to be "Me no like shots, therefore not competitive market" it would be difficult to understand something complicated like competition. Concepts exist outside of your mind, hard as that might be for you to believe.

Markets in which end consumers can choose multiple options without substantial barriers to choice are competitive.

The CDC recommends that everyone get a flu vaccine as well and has for decades. This is just another recommended protection that right wingers somehow just ignore after doing their own research.

    Notice the correlation?
