Heading into final round today in 5 place, 5 teams advance. Haven't played badly, just pretty blah, even par and 6 strokes out of first place but only 3 strokes ahead of 6th place. Team had a pretty good season but tanked at SEC tourney and not really showing a lot vs a mediocre regional field. Need to survive today and advance. Team is a weird mix of very veteran players and true freshmen.....3 freshmen in the lineup yesterday and likely today
Approaching the turn....drop a couple of shots and now -5 They are not safe yet, only 4 shots clear of the 5th and 6th place teams
Now back to -1 and tied for 5th....2 players are killing them (Fransico and Lucena). Only one shot ahead of 7th place as well. Better figure it out fast or season will be over
UF now back up to 6th, 2 strokes behind Pepperdine for 5th. Denver 1 stroke behind Florida. Running out of holes.
2 of our ladies have finished their rounds. One is on the 18th hole, another the 17th, the last on the 16th.
Gators season is pretty much over. Florida & Denver both at +4 for the tournament with Pepperdine finished at -1 and Oklahoma State at -1 with 4-5 holes yet to play.
Complete and total collapse.....imo Glaser should be on the hot seat next season. Three promising freshmen this year....but nobody seems to progress much in the program
Gators finished the last hole with a double bogey to miss the cut by 8 strokes. They had gotten to -6 this morning. They really folded badly down the stretch. Sucks. Sorry to be so negative.
Not negative noting how finishing this poorly in a fairly weak regional, team simply had a horrible postseason performance. 13th out of 14 teams at SEC tourney and now this. Lucena and Escobar 5th year seniors, Filler also a senior...ton of experience in the program and team regressed after flashing at times during the season
They actually got to -7. They went 14 over on the last 10 holes. Glaser is in the Roland camp for me. The sample size is there, the results aren’t. As for promising freshmen, none of them were that highly ranked as far as I know. She rarely gets high end talent, so our margin for error is zero every year. Last year we didn’t make nationals, this year we were worse. But again, the odds of SS doing anything are near zero, so embrace mediocrity across UF sports.
Not a fan of our AD either. We could actually finish out of the Top 10 in the Director's Cup this year for the first time ever. As of April 11, Florida was in 13th place. Spring sports is where we usually make a run, but might not be enough this year.
Yeah, I keep track of the numbers, right now it’s 50/50. If baseball doesn’t make NCAAs it goes up to about 60 or 70 percent. And fun fact, not a single sec or national championship earned during SS’s entire tenure has been from a coach that wasn’t already here when he got here. He hasn’t brought in a single coach that has won a league title, let alone a national one (Nesty is the asterisk, he had men’s swimming already and SS gave him women’s too - they have won 2 sec titles). And worse, he gave us both the Amato and Neubaur scandals. Extending Cam after the initial allegations alone should have been a fireable offense by itself. He gave us the insane football schedule next year too, is on his third football coach, soon to be four likely. Golden may prove to be the only thing he got right. He’s a disaster. /rant.
We need to get rid of coach. She has not accomplished anything and has been with program for a long time.
