Just finished watching the 2019 movie Held for Ransom. It’s a true story about a Danish photojournalist captured in Syria. I think it was very well-made, although some of the treatment of prisoners is intense. The movie is in Danish with English subtitles, some Arabic with English subtitles, and English, depending on who was talking to whom. Held for Ransom (2019) ⭐ 7.6 | Biography, Drama, War I had just finished watching the first season of the reality show Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, and wanted a movie set in the desert. So I found Held for Ransom. Special Forces was also a very good series.
Just watched Watership Down with my kids. I hadn’t seen it in many years. We were all in tears. What an interesting and moving film. ‘Bright eyes’ might be the saddest, most beautiful song ever.
A movie I haven’t seen in ages either. I love the book too. Read it with my son a few years ago, but we never watched the movie because, even though my daughter loves rabbits, the movie would be too intense for her. A family trait perhaps!
Never read the book but I’ve heard it’s much better than the movie and less frightening. I can’t get the bright eyes song out of my head. It’s haunting me.
Baby Reindeer, Netflix series. The show is off the charts in popularity right now. True story, played by the actual real dude who was stalked…by a woman. We enjoyed it but it does get a bit graphic. ‘Baby Reindeer’: What to Know About the True-ish Netflix Hit
Just finished watching it. It was strange and interesting. Sometimes I had trouble reading the woman's typing, would have to rewind. But overall i'd give it a thumbs up.
Youngest is home from college. We will do random movie nights from netflix or plex where he helps to cook and he picks the movie. He wanted to watch No Country for Old Men, which is not the type of movie my wife would watch so it was just the two of us. He really enjoyed it. That movie aged well.
It’s not a movie, and apologies if it’s the wrong thread, but I am finally watching the Shogun re-make (6 episodes in), and it is absolutely fantastic.
Watched Blood for Dust last night, if you are into bleak crime movies filled with character actors, this one is for you.
I watched Escape from Pretoria last night. It’s the true story about white political prisoners trying to escape from a prison during apartheid South Africa. Their method was ingenious.
Its so good, I think maybe the only complaint I've heard was "I don't want to read a show." Definitely not a background show, because its like 70% in Japanese, so you cant be on your phone the whole time.
