Love this one.... great steak & ale pies. Good place to get lunch after visiting ToL first thing in the morning.
You probably don't have Smell-a-vision (TM). It's hard to be in the same room as that scene without puking.
Oh, really ? I see reports like this every damn day. Sure, the same is true in US government schools. But it’s arguably even more pronounced in Blighty.
20 years in Education over here. I've never once been visited by the "woke police" or told to do/say something that was plainly ridiculous. I've always encouraged critical thinking skills and human values at the core for the children in my care. If anything, teachers tell the politicians to "do one", over here. I wouldn't take all you read verbatim.
Go on, define it for me in your eyes and I'll tell you if I'm 'woke'. As a teacher, woke is the past tense of wake so I'm all ears.
If dogs tasted as delicious as the kebab (which I believe was made of lamb), I question whether man and dogs would have become best friends.
Ok, by "street dogs", I meant the hot dogs sold by street vendors at like every other corner/block. Not canines. Lol! (They come served with cooked onions...bad ass!)
Lol.. you are too logical, Limey. Are you planning to move to the U.S.A.? Just a question out of the blue. Would you ever consider moving to the U.S.A.?
He was asked and answered this on page 2, Rick. Tourists Should Visit England: the "Dirty Man of Europe"
I absolutely would. Sadly, I'd need to win the lottery. For now, I work in US Pro and NCAA Sport so I cannot complain - it affords me a few trips over each year. Vegas in a few weeks, hopefully Pennsylvania in September. I once found a lovely gated community overlooking the water just outside Fort Worth, TX. Gosh I wish I had a spare $500k instead of a mortgage... EDIT: There it is. Just $1.8m so perhaps 500k was optimistic... If you ever do win the lottery, you might need to save some cash to pay the taxman when you sell your British house. When Americans downsize their homes, they pay a capital gains tax on the amount that the house has increased in value. When the Brits downsize, they apparently pay 7.5% of the sales price of their house. ‘Boomers like me would move tomorrow – but not if it means a £175,000 tax bill’
That article is absolutely ridiculous, infuriating Tory propaganda. Stamp Duty is a tax on buying houses, not selling. You don't pay CGT on your primary residential property SD is also not payable on a property up to £250,000. The average price of a house in the UK is £280,000 so most face a minimal tax charge. If you're a first time buyer, it's up to £425,000 free of stamp duty. Plus, if you do pay it - it's only 5% on the next tranche up to 975,000! So a £700,000 residential house would set you back £22,5000 in stamp duty. 975k gets you a LOT of house in the UK compared to an average house price of £280,000! FYI, this house is presently for sale for 3 bedroom detached house for sale in Beckfoot Mill, Duddon Bridge, Broughton-in-Furness, LA20 6EU, LA20 (rightmove.co.uk) Lake District - a beautiful national park. Tough on the old 'downsize' for that poor Boomer - how would they ever survive in such a tiny, rough abode!?? The people moaning they have a £2.5m property in West London, which, if they bought it 35 years ago, they'll have no mortgage and it will have appreciated in value immeasurably. That is all money in their bank account, waiting to be crystalised. Perhaps if they weren't so jammed up their own rear ends to realise, £22,500 to rough it my recommended downsize would leave them a paltry £2.47m to get by on for the essentials of house buying or around £1.77m in left over cash. Laughably stupid article. The only reason they're not moving is principle, not mechanics. They do not NEED a £2m house in a downsize. It's a reuse to cover their own greedy backsides, which is fair enough - but let's call out this BS charade for what it is. I cannot explain enough why you guys need to stop taking the Telegraph as gospel. It's by the rich, for the rich and has ZERO bearing on the majority of how life happens over here...
Britain's tourism is grinding to a halt, for some strange reason. No one wants to visit the Dirty Man of Europe. Strikes and sewage are considered two of England's most outstanding features. https://edition.cnn.com/travel/uk-tourism-drop-visitor-numbers-election/index.html
