I honestly don’t know what you mean by extended first base so please educate me. Personally at first base I’d love to see a “safety bag” so unnecessary collisions and injuries could be avoided. Idk if we’re talking about the same thing, probably not but this is my olive branch.
Yes...the double bag at first. It was my belief it was approved for use this year, perhaps experimental? Teams have seized on the other changes for this year such as electronics and a few back feet no longer needing to stay grounded for pitchers so why hasn't anyone used this? I thought for sure maybe some of the early season tourneys might had had them but I have not seen any...just wondering if college coaches don't want that change and if so for what advantage or disadvantage? Olives are actually one of the few things that grow on trees that I will eat
So we are talking about the same thing! Idk what to say about the extended bag at first other than the fact it’s not there defies all logic and common sense. I don’t believe it changes the game in any competitive way. It would just keep players safer. I think most if not all coaches are on board with it, I’m sure parents and players are as well. Baffling that wasn’t instituted during the recent rule revision session. I totally forgot about this, thanks for bringing it up.
Very little chance we hit 140+ homeruns next season. I believe we are at 78 this season to this point. Not sure we’re bringing in any ladies known as prolific power hitters and we lose Skylar’s bat. Now some of the freshmen this year may have some big improvements, Mia?, Ava, Ariel. Only one team in the country has hit more than 112 so far this season and that is Miami Ohio who hit 154! But I’m guessing they play their games in a phone booth as they have five girls who have hit 34, 28, 20, 18, and 16! They’re either playing in a small ballpark or it’s time to drug test these young ladies! Anyway, I’ll bet you a $20 that we don’t hit 140+ homeruns next season, is it a bet?
Ok, so just checked the size of Miami Ohio stadium. It’s the same as UF! 200 down the lines 220 to center field. Three things, one, drug testing seems appropriate. Second, let’s find out what these young ladies are eating. And third, is their hitting coach available?
So changing the subject entirely, what the heck is discussed at the umpire meeting at the D1 level? I understand that lineup cards are exchanged, but just last series there was extended discussion with CTW and Blue pointing to some spot in foul territory as apparently something got resolved. At the high school level, I understand that you have to deal with basics, but you'd figure that nothing needs to be said at this level. Yet, they often seem to be having serious discussions, not just pleasantries.
Korbe Otis should be a lock for SEC Player of the Year. Her BA is 48 points higher than anyone else in the league. She might have a shot at National Player of the Year. She has the 4th highest BA in the country behind players from Howard, Wichita St, and Grand Canyon.
She should be but they're gonna give national to whatever OU player they want since they gave them 5 finalists.... or Canady which would be well deserved. But I would be so sure her and Erickson won't share SEC POY
A few ESPN announcers have talked about having a larger 1st base, but it seems to me any rule would be for all teams, not optional.
SEC Tournament Starts Tonight: Scores - Softball - Southeastern Conference (secsports.com) Ole Miss vs. Kentucky at 7 PM ET
USA Today Coaches Softball Poll: NFCA 1. Texas 2. Tennessee 3. Oklahoma State 4. Oklahoma 5. Duke 6. UCLA 7. Stanford 8. Florida 9. Texas A&M 10. LSU 11. Missouri 12. Washington 13. Florida State 14. Georgia 15. Virginia Tech 16. Arkansas Four Disagreements: 1. Washington finished poorly and should not be as high as 12, more reasonable in the 16-20 range. The Huskies lost 2 of 3 in Seattle against Stanford last week and then lost the first two games at Utah this week prior to the broom game being cancelled. 2. LSU should be behind Arkansas and Missouri. The piggies finished 2 games ahead of LSU and the Tigers finished a game ahead of the tiggers in the SEC standings. 3. No way should Arkansas be down at 16. 4. Louisiana should be in the top 16. I think the Rajun Cajuns are more deserving than the Huskies. Louisiana owns a late season midweek win over LSU to boot.
Would like to see Ole Miss win but we should cheer for UK I guess since we beat them three times and it would would help our rankings.
I'd like to see all 13 SEC teams make the NCAA tournament. I'm rooting for the rebs to win the game and move forward to Wednesday play.
