Even in the middle of her slump she ran out a dropped third strike against against LSU that forced an errant throw that resulted in run/runs. She doesn’t do that we don’t win that series. Even when she’s not hitting she’s an impact player on the field and in the dugout. Game IQ off the charts. And again I love her hitting in the 3 spot. Boy oh boy I’m not regretting at all bringing up this lineup question.
I'm the one who started this thread in February of 2022 and titled it Ongoing UF Softball Commentary. Now we're on Page 299!!! It's incredible that people keep it going by discussing anything and everything that's Gator Softball - past, present and future. I'm excited about this year's Gator team, who has overachieved expectations and could do some great things in the post season. But I'm, also, excited about the future, especially next year's team, as I'm thrilled about the 5 high quality players we have coming in over the summer. Nothing wrong with talking about both and being excited about both. Glad you've been a part of the thread and hope you continue voicing your opinion. That's why it's lasted over 2 years - numerous people who love Gator softball speaking their minds in a respectful, informed manner.
Perhaps I'll just stick to asking....has anyone noticed any colleges taking advantage of the extended first base this year? I see some sort of interference call on first almost every other week somewhere. Is there a strategy or disadvantage I'm not seeing in using it? Being as practically everything gets challenged now I wouldn't think it's an advantage for hitters now leaving that up to an official for interpretation.
As has been mentioned recently. The vast majority of the posters to this thread are the most respectful on GC. And very thought provoking. There are many days that it's the only place I check for updates.
As always I’ve nothing but respect for you Ocala. Imo you are the wisest Gandalf here and I so appreciate your insight, wisdom and knowledge of the game. Not to mention your knack for putting out fires with patience and facts and an absurd amount of statistics lol. I hope you know none of my angst was directed towards you. I allowed myself to get worked up over what was hopefully nothing more than a misunderstanding. I learn things here everyday about the sport I love most from so many of you but Ocala most of all. I will say never trust Ocalas weather predictions. It’s his only softball related weakness lol. I apologize for my crimes, cya Thursday maybe. Go Gators!
ncaa rpi differs from warren nolan and is bigger disaster uf 12 behind 4 other sec teams and lsu higher than all other sec teams. it is a farce. DI Softball Rankings - NCAA Women's Softball RPI | NCAA.com RPI (Live) 2024 College Softball | WarrenNolan.com no way should either ranking be used for ncaa seeding. make sense selection committee, use the kpi.
Since Texas & Oklahoma are in the SEC next year I decided to check out their lineups. Texas is graduating 3 starters and all their good pitchers are back. Oklahoma on the other hand is a completely different story. Six of their starters are gone and three of their top four pitchers are also gone. Would not be surprised to see Texas #1 and Gators #2 in preseason national rankings.
They've said in podcasts this year that the committee is looking more toward kpi this year.... remains to be seen. But if they go on who has performed the best.... we have to be at the top of those teams vying for an 8. Downside whether we get the 7,8,9,10 were more than likely matching up against another sec team
Gators compete in 21 sports. They are nationally ranked in 5 of the 9 men's programs and nationally ranked in 10 of the 12 women's programs. Thank goodness for Title IX.
I completely agree! We are losing 6 seniors and I adore each and every one of them and appreciate their contributions on and off the field. Technically as far as starters go we lose Skylar and Katie. Present pitching will be seasoned and better next season and additional relief is on the way even without the portal. With the incoming recruits I believe it’s possible Florida fields an offense the likes of which have never been seen before in any era of softball. I’m excited. But as someone else said let’s celebrate and support our present ladies and their far from over campaign. Long boring offseason to talk about next season lol.
Food for thought…thought of mine incoming. Hopefully what I’m about to type won’t start another fight. Per sources who I’ve no reason to distrust Olivia Miller is going through a massive transition with her mechanics. I would think that doesn’t happen if CTW doesn’t ok it and Olivia herself isn’t comfortable or ok with it. But what if all that is only half true and the rest is smoke and mirrors. I am reaching, I am pushing sunshine but what if Olivia is ready to go and she’s been held back to this point explicitly to be a secret pitching weapon come NCAAs. It’s a reach but what if? Anyhow I think Miller will be invaluable next season if not sooner!
I’m all in every season. This 2024 squad is different yet in so many ways reminds me of 2013 squad. Not just the team but the surrounding noise. No respect, no love but they just keep winning. They are going to the WCWS.
Next season and all I know but I will take the over on Gator softball hitting 140+ homers next season. I’m willing to bet a friendly dollar and or bragging rights.
I mean you never know.... I think an outside chance but not entirely off the table lol. I wouldn't be surprised to see her throw in regionals.
Baylee Goddard has a huge moment in her future. She doesn’t leave Gator Nation without making her mark. Idk when exactly but it’s coming.
