Don't make the bet, you'd lose. The piggies lost 2 of 3 at home to SEC bottom of the totem pole Ole Miss to close the season.
Warren Nolan (Live) has our RPI ranking up to #10, SOS #17. ELO Ranking #7. KPI has us at #8. Those are all with our updated record of 43-12, regular season completed. RPI hasn't been updated on NCAA.com, nor has D1 softball or the DSR included Saturday's games in their RPI, but the Gators definitely made a major upward move in RPI and SOS over their last 8 games, plus sweeing Texas A&M.
They adjusted the scheduling around some it appears. Florida plays the Georgia/Auburn winner as the third game on Thursday. 2024 SEC Softball Tournament bracket officially set Our bracket is definitely the offensive side with georgia, Mississippi State, Texas A&M & Florida.
The KPI has been updated through games played on 5/5: Faktor (faktorsports.com) 1. Texas 2. Oklahoma 3. Tennessee 4. Duke 5. Oklahoma State 6. Stanford 7. UCLA 8. Florida 9. LSU 10. Missouri 11. Arkansas 12. Texas A&M 13. Georgia 14. Florida State 15. Alabama 16. Louisiana 17. Virginia Tech 18. Mississippi State 19. Clemson 20. Washington The RPI is a worthless piece of crapola. Warren Nolan RPI which is supposed to update by completed games: RPI (Live) 2024 College Softball | WarrenNolan.com Florida is 10 after sweeping Texas A&M. There was zero bump for winning games 2 and 3 to complete the sweep. LSU is 5 and Georgia is 9. It's laughable for the selection committee to continue to use this flawed ranking as part of the seeding process.
I'm glad you brought up SOS. Warren Nolan SOS Ranked: Strength of Schedule (SOS) - 2024 College Softball | WarrenNolan.com 1. Auburn 2. LSU 3. Georgia 17. Florida 18. Oklahoma 19. Duke Where I believe the RPI disconnects with reality, where the rubber meets the road, is it isn't just playing a strong schedule, it's how you performed, your record against that strong schedule. LSU and Georgia are ranked above Florida in the RPI and the only accounting for this is SOS. However, the surrounding results don't support that high of a ranking for either. Both were series beaten 2-1 by the Gators, LSU at home and Georgia away. Both finished down the totem pole in the SEC. Both finished the season weakly, LSU 4-6 in last 10 and Georgia 5-5 in the last 10. I'm not sure what the RPI has to do to be relevant again, but the KPI and DSR are both more accurate when it comes to looking at how the teams actually performed against their schedules.
D1 Softball Weekly Rankings just hit and the Top 16 are: Texas Tennessee Oklahoma State Oklahoma UCLA Stanford Duke Florida Arkansas Missouri Texas A&M LSU Georgia Washington Mississippi State Arizona
If we win at least one game in the SEC tournament I think we will get an 8 seed. If not it is not the end of the world. If we win our regional as a #9 we will play an SEC team in the Super-regional. I'd rather do that than travel across the country and play Stanford or UCLA.
UF got +9 rpi points per win, so plenty of bump, just not enough to catch 9th, still 13 pts behind. But widened the gap on #11. Other teams gain/lose rpi points also.. Hard to move up much this late once in top 10. For ex. UF is 45 points behind just #7. Upcoming RPI Impact Games for Florida Softball | WarrenNolan.com I think UF is top 8 regardless of secT. Will be 2nd highest SEC seed behind Vols IMO. I can see Duke beeing a lot lower seed than the rpi suggest(3). Only 12 Q1 wins,,roughly half of most the other T10 teams.. UF RPI will be 9th at best , 10th at worst. 38/39 point gaps to 8th /11th Root for AU over UGa... youll get more rpi points for a road win...or lose less for a road loss..
It has been a long time since Oklahoma has been rated this poorly. Those girls must be in shock. Also, I'm not so sure Tennessee isn't the best team in the nation. Their two starting pitchers are really good and hard to beat.
Top 8 would be amazing. On one hand I want us to do well in the SECt but on the other our pitchers getting some extra rest before NCAAt would be great. I’m conflicted. Glad CTW has to make these decisions and not me lol.
lots of time between sec and regional. play loose, have fun, and play hard for the sec championship. the higher the seed, the better.
This would be my T16 host pre conf tourney.. wont change much after. 1. Texas - 16. VPI 2. Okla. - 15. aTm 3. Vols - 14. Louis. 4. Ok St - 13. Mizz 5. UCLA - 12. Ark. 6. UF - 11. FSU 7. Duke - 10 UGa 8. LSU - 9. Stanf. I'll fill in 2 seeds later,,not that anyone cares.. You can flip OU/Vols at 2/3, no issue. Top 3 are locks in some order IMO.. Not penalizing OU for not being as good as OU..lol Still like their resume better than Vols(10 Q4 games)
