You can put UK in the top tier next season.

And has a history of injury... the lack of anything in the portal is alarming. I hope we get a big announcement with several that we just don't know about like we did a few years ago. If we don't we are going to be undermanned next year and in serious trouble the next season. I can't imagine we aren't taking more, but it's getting late and a lot of the difference makers are off the board.

I know several non revenue sports have struggled a bit in that regard....the problem seems to be that while we have "some" funds there often are a couple of schools that really focus on that sport and are willing to outspend most others for the elite portal kids. Oklahoma in softball for example

The approach in softball, if true, is going to continue to be an issue with the kids who are looking for premium money. They also seem to think their relatively small war chest is going to continue to be enough. Meanwhile they throw fits about OK taking who they want. The hs classes are going to be harder to keep together too, as the top kids there will start having big numbers thrown at them late in the cycle, just like you’ve already been seeing in the revenue sports.

Yep. I know it's happened in tennis too. You know elite track athletes will be demanding. Coaching in this era must be a nightmare

Unless we are flat broke it's not a money thing. If we are really behind that many schools in NIL for WBB then shut it down. Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky have all significantly outdone us so far in the portal. Still time, but not sure there are many difference makers left.

I got confirmation it is not a money thing, we have tried to several recruits and have just lost out on some big time players. Now refocusing on some secondary names. She really liked the girl from the Cards, thought she got a raw deal up there from the staff. But again no real specifics were provided to me. But I was given a very confident we have money to spend on the right girls

if you hire the right coach kids will come as well. Saw that with LSU hire of Baylor coach in Ladies Basketball, Cal going to Arkansas, …. Gators often hire the young up and coming coaches that are not as well known. Seems to be money saving decision. Have never seen them buy a head coach that was already established other than perhaps Urban from Utah when he could have gone to ND or UF.

Often the "established" coaches are more like retreads than guys truly in their prime. But you are right that UF tends toward the up and coming and often younger coach ala Billy D, Sully, Tim Walton, Nesty, Mouse, and now Todd Golden....a model I actually prefer. Mullen and currently Mandy O'leary would probably be an exception and considered an established coach
