At KSP, the umpire announced that the runner advanced at her own risk.

Question: if an infield fly is called and the ball is NOT caught, is there a requirement to tag up before advancing?

I thought the whole point of "advance at your own risk" was that if the ball WAS caught and you didn't tag up, then you'd be an easy put out, but if it was NOT caught then no tag up needed.

I'm 72. I have seen and scored more baseball and softball games in my life I can possibly count. No matter. There is always something that happens that causes you to step back and try to figure it out. The infield fly rule, as it pertains to the batter, was clear cut. Everything else was complex and you have to work your way through it. It appeared Julia got benched after that. Could be for a variety of reasons including catching in that heat. I'm not fan of Julia but if she got benched because she didn't figure out a complex situation on the fly....I don't agree with that.

Shifting to a different controversy. I thought Ariel made a great head-up play with the throw to third. On the money and her head was in the game. As I understand the bulls&8^ obstruction rule, it was supposedly modified slightly this year to give the ump the discretion to ignore any potential obstruction if the runner was clearly and substantially out regardless. The runner was clearly out by a significant margin. The ump was correct on the out call. Birmingham blew it with the overturn.

SEC Tournament : Looks like we are scheduled to play 11AM Thursday, 4PM Friday, and 5PM Saturday (local time)

Obviously winning it all puts us in the best position for Super Regional hosting.

What's the MINIMUM you figure we need to do and help from others outside the SEC to host Super Regionals?

It looks like in the SEC tournament the Gators will play the 2nd game on Thursday, approx. 12:30 - 1 pm against the winner of #7 seed Georgia and #10 seed Auburn. #3 Texas A&M plays the winner of #6 LSU & #11 South Carolina the same day and then the winners of those 2 games meet in the semifinals on Friday. That's our bracket, if I've figured it our correctly. Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, Miss. State and the winner of the play-in game between Kentucky & Ole Miss make up the other bracket.

Julia never was tagged at second and there was never a force; so where was the third out? I am still confused.

She walked straight in to the glove which the ball was in. So it was a tag. On an infield fly, the batter is out. The runners can run freely as they please. As if they are stealing. So she was technically stealing and she got thrown out at second. Act as if it was a passed ball. Batter is out of the equation. She went on her own and got out. Crappy way to end the inning but glad it was them and not us

Close. You are correct in that Cottrill (the runner on 1st) walked into Skylar's glove with the ball in it - i.e. she was tagged for the 2nd out. (BTW I don't think Skylar had a clue what was going on - it was pure luck.) And if the infield fly batted ball was missed or dropped then you are correct - the runners may stay or run as they wish. However, if the infield fly batted ball was caught then the runners would have to tag before advancing.

Also, those TA&M commentators should receive a demerit for their ensuing knowledge, logic and explaination.

Amanda Scarborough is easily one of the best color analysts. Far better than the assault on our ears and brain by the two that get the primary games. In this circumstance, though, she and her cohort blew it with astounding ignorance, on every word they spoke. Every word including making up some B.S. about having to take into account the wind or sun. I went to her twitter page and told her so, but in much more diplomatic terms. But, with their completely absurd analysis, I'm sure half of Texas thinks A&M got screwed out of a rally.

On another completely different note, and at the risk of being tagged with a bacon or off-topic by people we have never heard from before, I'm going to comment on Taylor Pleasants. She is hitting .255 or something like that. A year long slump and we freaked when Skylar hit the skids for three weeks. Taylor should be at least 150 points higher or more. I have watched a ton of LSU games and she has not once ever shown the frustration she must feel. Just heads back to the dugout. No screaming. No throwing her helmet. All my respect to a player in a deep slump who is far, far, better than what has happened this year.

Honestly I think we win our first game and we lock in a top 8. Possible georgia matchup again.... yay (sarcasm is heavy lol) If seeds hold then it would be A&M again. Here's to hoping Auburn beat UGA lol. Jsut not good for our pitchers to face UGA again so soon I don't feel like. Not that we can't beat them because we can but still.

Just can't see how UF isn't solidly in the 8 spot after today....think somebody has to make a lot of conference tourney noise while UF exits fast to displace UF.
How about UF as the 8 and UW as the 9 in a super regional? So many SEC teams in that 9-14 window....Arky,UGA,LSU,Missou, TAMU. I guess they could match us with Arky since they didn't play this year, but no way should we rematch with any of the others.

Unless UW makes a run they'll be around 16 I think. Unfortunately I'm afraid we're gonna get an sec team.

I'm not sure even the RPI can screw up again. UF will be top 8 KPI and should move to top 8 in the RPI as well:

    1. LSU finished 4-6 in their last 10 games including a loss to RPI 41 Liberty at home to close the season.

    2. Georgia lost 2 of 3 at Mississippi State to close the season, finished 5-5 in last 10.

    3. Florida finished second in the SEC 2 games behind Tennessee and 2 games ahead of the pack. The Gators closed the season with a sweep of higher ranked Texas A&M and finished 7-3 in the last 10, including a current 5-game winning streak against ranked teams.

In the next RPI update I expect the RPI to adjust in Florida's favor.

I think the Gators are already bracketed as a top 8 seed with the selection committee regardless of what happens at Auburn in the SECs.

I would rather play Arky than FSU.....Louisiana would be interesting but they lost a game to Troy this weekend

LSU lost a game to Liberty so that hurt them a little.....the next rankings will be interesting. Missou may be sneaking up a little, only contender other than UF that didn't take a loss this week
If I'm betting it's UF in 8 and Arky in 9 as of now
