The baseball announcers have talked about that situation several times. If an infield fly is called, the batter is out. Then if the infielder drops the ball intentionally (Mia didn't) a baserunner might be fooled and try to advance. Then there's a double play. We didn't do it on purpose, but the baserunner should have known better.

My beef would have been that infield fly wasn't called while the ball was still in the air, creating confusion for the runner(s).

According to the announcers, it was called while the ball was in the air, but by the home plate umpire. Obviously, Julia at first didn't hear it.
