What right do they have to vote on UF’s money? Since when do we teach our kids that extortion is cool?!?!

Please! The other side has no interest in knowing the reality; their minds have been poisoned. But there’s people who know only what they learn on TikTok. They have no idea of the advancements Israel has made. They have no idea that the very money they want to deprive Israeli companies from receiving might be deployed for an Ada a cement that might be life-saving l. They have no idea that Israel affords equal rights to Arab Israelis. They have no idea that Israel has offered, multiple times, a Palestinian State, which was refused by the Palestinians because Israel would remain a State. They have no idea that there was never a “Palestine” that they are now told existed. They don’t know that the minute Israel was given a sliver of land by the United Nations, 5 Arab countries declared war and instantly surrounded Israel. They don’t know that it was the Arab leaders that told the people to leave Israel at that moment until they quickly finished destroying the new state (which never occurred). They have no idea that the surrounding countries tried several more times over the years to retake and eviscerate Israel, only to be repelled each time. Israel has offered land, a two state solution, and many other concessions, and asks only to be recognized and respected as an independent state.

They know only of Israeli imperfections, both real and contrived.

They hear that Israel is bombing innocent families. But they don’t hear (and don’t listen) to the fact that there is a bomb shelter built on every block in Israeli towns, and those bomb shelters are out to disproportionate use as homes constantly fly into their skies. They don’t hear of the terror Israelies must live through every day, knowing another bomb might explode over their home. And to be sure, they don’t talk about how sad it is that Israelies don’t even feel the terror because it is so constant.

No, they hear about Israeli retaliation, not the never-ending provocations and attacks.

For a day. They were horrified as they saw video of the rapes and torture and murder. But that passed once their TikTok stars stopped talking about the hostages. They claim the Israeli response is disproportionate, yet offer no solution to the neverending attacks by Hamas against Israel.

And so, yeah, I can’t find the sympathy for a bunch of ill-informed Jew haters who have been poisoned into thinking they are doing something great.

The students attend UF. If many of them care enough to demonstrate, why shouldn't the university consider their perspective and vote on the issue? Take a step back from your hostility to their cause and consider how illiberal you're behaving.

We can certainly agree that this conflict has poisoned people's minds and made them unwilling to think beyond their own hostility to the other side.

make them watch the videos of the attacks and ask them again what they think. I'll bet good money that not a single one of them has seen 10 minutes of the graphic videos of the attacks yet they still somehow consider themselves informed.

maybe a bunch of young pubs should hold a protest and demand that the board divest from all companies associated with the "fake election results". If they can get enough people, should the board entertain them and hold a vote on that too? never reward bad behaivor and the protests became bad behaivor when they interrupted other students and destroyed property.

to be fair, the university exists for teaching and research and when I was a student I fought to have student voices in administration. To achieve those ends having some good cop and bad cop students is helpful for negotiating so protest is key. But it can never be violent - and you should rarely coordinate with non students who may have alternative motives. These protests around the country have gotten it wrong imo. As soon as any of them got even a tiny bit violent they ruined it for everyone else.

You make these kind of statements all the time. But, Where is your pacifist ire when Hamas routinely bombs Israel? Where are all your posts condemning Hezbollah’s daily barrage of rockets into Israeli soil? Where’s your screaming when Jews are slaughtered in their synagogues?

    Or is your pacifism limited?

I’m all for a good and honest protest for good causes. These protests are organized to organically grow into violence and extremism.

    1. You keep saying “these students,” as of the protests were student originated and organized. They’re not. Look at the arrests across the country, and look how many of the arrests are not students.

    2. I don’t find this “protest” to be grounded in factual honesty, and they serve foreign interests whose goal is to disparage and destroy Israel.

    3. Calling me “liberal,” “illiberal” or “conservative,” would be a mislabel. I view issues independently, always with a view of what I perceive to be morally right. If standing against a propaganda-driven encampment makes me illiberal, then I’m illiberal.

    4. And I am super-proud of our Chancellor for the quick and decisive steps he took to make sure UF was not a catastrophe.

I keep saying students because we know that a sizable percentage of the protesters are students.
You've made your view clear. But your view on the righteousness of the cause shouldn't dictate how we treat protests and protesters. To borrow Gr8t's analogy, if a bunch of MAGA students protested to demand divestment from companies that helped Biden steal the election, I'd say hear them out and vote on the issue.
Objecting to an approach that embraces civil liberties and a democratic process is indeed illiberal, regardless of what you think of the cause.

Anyone destroying property or directly threatening others needs to be arrested. Beyond that let these people do their thing and they’ll get bored before long.

Great quote particularly the “UF is not a daycare” part. Interesting that four of the protesters arrested apparently were not students and instead “outside agitators” as described in the UF statement.

Saw one punk, who was a UF student, was arrested for spitting in a cops face. Actually he was fortunate he was only arrested instead of getting the ass beating he most definitely deserved.

We are giving Israel the means to do their killing and support in the UN, we as Americans can do something about that one. People are protesting our government's support of the war and the state of Israel. If we were supporting Hamas as a society, people would be protesting that.

LOL. I was on UF's campus a month ago. Guess I was an "outside agitator." Hope none of y'all attend football games. Would hate for you to become "outside agitators."

    This indicates otherwise.
All 9 pro-Palestinian protesters arrested at UF released from jail; one faces felony charge
Court records, made public Tuesday afternoon, said Frasheri spit on the right arm of university police Officer Kristy Sasser as she was helping a state trooper walk away with another protester under arrest. She said Frasheri “walked up to us and spit on me. His spittle landed on my right arm. I disengaged from the escort and arrested Frasheri for battery.”

Maybe we should block the gates to BHG and demand that the UAA vote on his competence before anyone can gain access.
