Proud of my university!

I get it, you prefer to have the misinformed cut the American flag to the ground, and then proudly hoist the Palestinian flag in its place. And you prefer students (and agitators)carry hammers in their pockets to smash windows and occupy buildings. You prefer extortion over free speech.

But we are not like-minded. Just as the January 6 rioters were criminals, so too are your students and friends.

 

I certainly welcome your views and posts, but I am in no way looking to get your approval. I think that much is clear.

 

I forgot I asked the question yesterday, and I remain disgusted at you calling these kids "terrorists." I know some people who have protested, and they're certainly not "terrorists." What an unhinged thing to say.

 

In terms of the violence, some examples:

 

I'm not sure we can have a discussion about this if that is your actual view. I dont think you actually believe that, because I'd probably be mad at Ben Sasse for dealing with "terrorists" by saying "no megaphones guys or you get suspended." Ben Sasse, soft on terrorism.

 

I didn’t say everyone is a terrorist. The leadership certainly is, IMO. And as disgusted as you are with how I view them, my opinion of the organizers is far more descript.

 

Florida didn’t have to deal with terrorists. Sasse shut them down before it escalated. Once again, great job, Ben.

 

I don't want to misstate what you believe. What do you mean by "leadership"? Who qualifies as "leadership"? And at which protests? All? Some? Only one?

 

The organizers, and it’s commonly understood that the encampment “movement” are all organized by the same people.

 

Jewish Voice for Peace for instance, or that Palestinian campus org DeSantis tried to ban? These are terrorist groups in your view?

 

The ones that say either divest from Israel or we remain encamped in your buildings and threaten your students daily. How’s that for starters…

 

Well you seem to be the 'expert,' perhaps you could name a few organizations or people instead of making generalizations and pointing to shadowy "organizers" and "leaders" pulling the strings.

 

Interesting listen I wish I had gotten too earlier. It's an interview with the Yale student who's also added the paper. She seems pretty balanced listening to her.

It's interesting that she said that at the outset of the current discord, the administration was not cracking down on various incendiary statements, including some statements of Intifada but an original whiteboard posting that said death to Palestine, which the official defended as permitted under free speech principles. That discussion is around the 27 minute mark. It goes into further discussion as well

The general surmise is Soros. But we know the character of the demonstrations is trending towards non-peaceful.

 

Only the ones in which universities have responded with repression instead of dialogue. Funny how that works! People dont like being attacked by their administration and government and tend to escalate their tactics.

The ask was made before any of that, those are just responses to saying we're not going to talk to you (and I dont accept your portrayal of those things). Most of those things only became "illegal" after the university changed their policies in response, or are so subjective as to be meaningless for anything other than to shut speech down lol.
