Plax was as memory serves me, a guy Spurrier really really wanted, and he got pissed at admissions that we couldn't get him in.
On the flip side I remember seeing a written interview with Plaxico halfway into his excellent pro career, how badly he wanted to come to UF to play in that aerial game.

I was at that Citrus Bowl. Googled the results and Plaxico finished with 13 catches for 185 yards and 3 TD’s. Bobby Williams was interim head coach for MSU: Saban had left the team a few days prior.
I remember their kicker, Paul Edinger nailed a medium range field goal to beat us as time ran out.

We have had success against Big-Whatever conference schools:except Michigan teams. They have caught us at opportune times, for them.

Although we did beat Michigan pretty good in the 2018 Peach Bowl.

That was a fun time. 19 was as well. We were in such a great position to capitalize on those seasons and then the bottom fell out

I think outside of the Arizona State WR, we probably done in the portal. I like our room, I just am not sure if we have a #1 type WR outside of Tre. Maybe they’re already on the roster and need more targets or like the 2 other true WR (Jean and Mizell) last year, just needed an offseason. Idk what’s up with Jean, he can’t seem to stay healthy. Would love to see Burke and Mizell take off and I really love the speed of Abrams and Hawkins.

Need to see us lean into Mertz being back in the system for a second year and trusting that we can go deeper into the playbook

You could see in WI games that Mertz favored certain throws and receivers. At WI he really trusted Dike. At Florida he really trusted Pearsall. It will be interesting to see who he trusts in intermediate routes this year. I want to see Tank in the slot early and see if he can carve out a role. I'm not really seeing the natural pass catcher in Mizell yet. We need some speed in Mizell, Tank or Abrams to open the field. Just that extra yard a safety has to cheat can be the difference. I haven't seen that claimed speed in Jackson. I hope and think Burke is coming around. He had the best catch of the O&B game.

Jackson may have that timed speed but straight line speed is much easier to deal with. It’s breaking off that route , change of direction speed that really creates problems. Jerry Rice wasn’t all that fast but a bitch to cover.

yea I think they will get Mizell on the field this year but it will probably be another year physically and overall before he’s a real PLAYER. Again, wth is up with Jean? He has that Reggie Wayne type of skillset we could use to eventually overtake Jackson but he GOTTTTA stay healthy.
I’m with you on Tank and Abrams….get them in the slot QUICKLY. I know we want to run and run out 12/13 personnel, but man we got speed to go more 4-5 wideout and stretch the field. I know they like Hansen and Livingston and Bourdingham, but man we can’t put cuffs on this speed

I don't know what's up with Jean. He really looked like someone we could use. I just think we need the speed of Hawkins, EW3, and Mizell at the same time to put more safeties and LB in conflict. It should help loosen up LB to drop in coverage to improve rushing too.

Jean not transferring as rumored over and over may be indicative that he's just having a rough patch with the injury situation?

Not everyone is a star day one. Patience and development is needed for most.

Don't discount anyone. We've seen plenty become big contributors over time.
