My strongest disagreements are with the more principled conservatives and liberals on this board, I dont waste my time with the MAGA types, as its generally not worth it. I think in general the "left" gets flack for being meaner to liberals and centrists in their disagreements, and there is probably some truth to that, but general those are the people who are persuadable or have some pluralist/liberal/libertarian principles that can be appealed to. Why waste your time with a right-winger who think drag queens should be imprisoned for grooming children or whatever? I'm not going to lose sleep over not having a dialogue with people like that, even if I do take them seriously as a political force.

I think there are a bunch of liars taking the poll. Everybody 0-4?

the 2 below definitely - at least re Trump and shameless magas. The both sides one - entry not to but I probably do on occasions.

Do you feel good when something bad happens to the other person or side?

Does it feel like the other side is brainwashed or in a cult

Do you ever defend your own side by pointing out the other side does the same or worse?

I never go to sleep thinking about conflicts. I think about the people I care about personally, and maybe say a quick prayer then I concentrate on being as calm and placid as possible because I have fantastical dreams at night.

4 years ago I stopped watching the cabal MSM propaganda news... and that helped get the noise out of my system.

I sleep knowing that in my dreams I go places so cool that it's almost too much fun. I'm now looking for ways to accentuate that process of higher dreaming.

Even 99% of those went in with good intentions. Would I be any more resistant to the pull of power and greed if I were on the hill? One would like to think so...but probably not.

Good on you for probably being honest. I had three for sure and had to struggle with my biases to eliminate some others. If we're being honest, most of us probably have a couple more than we want to believe.

For sure. There's certain strength in that. For one, it forces us to consider opposing opinions, potentially resulting in . . . gasp . . . . empathy. (not aiming the gasp at you)

TBH I think you're right. After taking the poll, I saw results exclusive to 0-2 and 3-4. Hard not to believe that bias is not more ubiquitous. As I admitted above, I had to struggle to "keep it down" to a 3ish.

We may not jive politically, but I'm certain we would party together in grand fashion. :D

I have more liberal friends than you might think. We just agree not to talk about such divisive subjects. But if something political does arise, we know that mutual respect always wins the day.

Besides that... I like musician no matter what. :)

    No
No (don't really find myself aligned wholly with any side), but don't wish anything bad to happen to anybody outside of the realm of sports; some moments of weakness with thoughts about people who have committed some seriously foul actions, but not politically related.
    No (^^^)
Yes - it feels like any "side" has their tough to crack nuts (not all that way, but always some), it's like when fans notice officiating bias when it happens against their team, but they don't recognize it when it happens to the other side. I'm sure I've posted stuff that others have taken as a comment appearing like a "brainwashed" take.
No - most of my exchanges on here are for gathering information on how others see the issue more than me trying to get my point across. The issues I have the biggest grievances with don't come up here too frequently (usually local issues and many types of driving issues). Definitely some topics are more interesting than others.
Yes? - seems likely; probably more likely in person than on these boards.
No - at least not for anything coming out of my mouth; lol
No - I think it's fair to point out hypocrisy and recognize our own hypocrisy without it rising to the level of defense of any view
No - not sure what this means; feel like everybody has at least a slightly different take on most topics the deeper you delve into it.
Yes - more "good" and "bad" less "us" and "them." Feel like we're all humans trying to figure our way in life. However, it's natural (or at least easy) to recognize differences in moral valuations and even to bond with folks who share similar values. It's harder to recognize the hardships or simply the differences that lead to people coming into different viewpoints.
No - always curious about different viewpoints

I went 0-2. Typically the reason why is the answers to the questions don't really register that high on my "give-a-shit-o-meter".

    • Do you lose sleep thinking about this conflict? -- Nope.
    • Do you feel good when something bad happens to the other person or side? -- Nope. Don't really care either way.
    • If the other side were to do something you agreed with, would it feel uncomfortable to acknowledge this out loud? -- Nope. There is no "other side" to me. Both sides do some things I agree with, and some things I disagree with.
    • Does it feel like the other side is brainwashed or in a cult? -- Maybe? Again, there is no "other side" to me. Both sides do some good, some bad. There are brainwashed idiots on the fringes of both.
    • Do you ever get stuck ruminating over the same grievances over and over? -- Nope.
    • When talking with people who agree with you, do you say the same things over and over? -- Nope.
    • Has someone who knows you well told you they don’t recognize you anymore? -- Nope.
    • Do you ever defend your own side by pointing out the other side does the same or worse? -- Nope.
    • Do you see different people on the other side as essentially interchangeable? -- Yes, but that also applies to both sides. Both are dug in to their ideological and political positions.
    • Do you use words like always, good, bad, us, them, or war? -- Nope.
    • Do you find it hard to remember when you last felt genuine curiosity about the other side’s thoughts, intentions, or actions? -- Nope.

Seeing the results; we may have some of the following possibilities:

    - not everybody is participating in this survey that expresses a view on here
    - people have a significantly different perception of themselves than others do
    - what people express on here doesn't match how they truly feel

Honestly, nothing would surprise me on this board. I could definitely take different meaning out of some of the questions and apply them differently than how others might apply them as well. Regardless, it's an interesting thought experiment.

This self-assessment stuff is worthless. We need some struggle sessions here if we want to change things.
