Maybe, but he hasn’t played a minute at the 4. Interesting to see where the staff projects him.

I’m with you. We definitely see this thing the same. He could be a really good 4 for us.

Handlogten and Rioux will both redshirt next season. So, we only will have 4 big men for next season as of right now.

At the spring game, Haugh was standing by Handlogten and he look like he was 6’10”. If he is 6’9”, he is every bit of it. Very glad he wanted to be at Florida as he gets bigger and stronger. He and Condon should play horse together everyday before and after practice. With outside shooting and their defensive abilities, the sky is the limit.

I think he meant in terms if the future. Hard to sell a kid on playing time when you have a junior and three sophomores, plus another sophomore and freshman redshirting. Then again, things sure can change quickly these days.

True, but the guys with only one year of eligibility could care less.

You said nothing about redshirts before, only that we have 4 bigs on board. That's incorrect. We still have 6 on board.
I knew what you meant, though. Just having a little fun with it.
    Play on!

I believe that it was rserina who first used the terminology “4 on board.” Rioux is a walkon, so I won’t count him. But, I am willing to compromise because I am a great negotiator and go with 5 on board. I am also a genius, and I can prove it. How about this? Person, woman, man, camera, TV. If anyone wants to, feel free to give me an off topic emoji. I deserve it.

Can't believe the whole weekend went by without a peep about Ques Glover entering the transfer portal. Oops. Did I just open up a can of worms?

The SEC is going to be loaded again next year. Many of our rivals are adding excellent players. Assuming Richard and Clayton are back our success is really going to be determined by the improvement Condon Haugh and Aberdeen and to some extent the two post transfers. Would be amazing if we added one more 3 with some size and some proven ability to succeed at this level. I know we have spoken to some, but it’s definitely tough sledding with NIL constraints and minutes.

If we were not to add or lose any other players of significance I would once again see us upper middle of the pack. And believe me I know it’s super early lol, I just see what our comp is adding and it’s impressive. We have added one big time guy in Martin, one solid guy in Alexis and a bit of a raw guy with good upside in Chinyelu. Not as many impact guys as some of our comp.

the good news is every report I hear about Condo, Haugh and Aberdeen is they really like each other and are working hard already to get better. Maybe we will have some great chemistry with those guys and we know they compete. Martin is a great fit that way. Tough dude who cares about winning. Should be very interesting.

^ Right. I posted in one of these threads a tweet about how much returning players contributed to the best teams this year. It’s completely true. We did a great job flipping our roster last year to give us the personnel we wanted (more size at the 4/5, more playmaking in the backcourt), and we were a massively improved team. But it didn’t all come together at once, and we didn’t know until around midseason exactly what we were and want we weren’t, and how to adjust accordingly. That’s a steep learning curve on the fly.

Now, imagine returning 4-5 rotation players rather than 2, and having 6 guys who know your system, can put in a full offseason of development, and who you already know what to expect from. The new guys complement the core you already have in place. That’s where good programs want to be. It’s also why I am far less bullish about adding any more kids with one year to play, especially at guard. We already stand to lose Clayton, Richard, and Martin next year. Another one year rental would make it even harder to get up to speed next year. I would far prefer finding younger kids with a little upside who we think we can develop, even if that means going overseas for them, or taking guys who struggled as freshman or sophomores.
