Wasted a tremendous combined pitching performance tonight. Have to be able to find a way to win a game like that. Crap!

Yep. About what you would expect vs the best pitcher in the league. We will see if we can steal a couple tomorrow.

Finally got a high qaulity pitched game and the offense just couldn't do anythinhg. 14 K's and so many of out at bats were not really competitive. But Arkansas showed why they're ranked #2. Now I wonder who the TBA guy is for one of the games tomorrow?

Story of our season…losing 1 run games. *Sigh* no HRs for Cags either.

You get 27 outs and 14Ks. SMH. Something has to change this off season. We need contact.

    • It was there for the taking but failure at a couple of little things and its a loss.

    Sully post game
    • Pearce threw the ball great, Luke threw great
    • thought we swung bats OK (didn't mention the 14 Ks)
    • Heyman's ball probably gets out if not for the wind
    • failure to get the bunt down - acting like its a drag instead of a sacrifice. (I think he's ticked off with Robertson)
    • Not staying within 45 foot line on Shelnut's bunt was turning point of the game - when he got hit in the back. mentioned that happened to the other team in 2017 CWS in a game the Gators won
    • Walked Wilmsmeyer TWICE - he has a .202 average
    • finding ways to lose instead of finding ways to win
    • Went up against the best pitcher in the country and Gators hung with him
    • The weather will determine if Cags throws 1st game or 2nd

We always swing the bat great. We don't make contact with the ball, but we swing great.

No homers for any Gators. Our team relies too much on the long ball.

Just a painful game to watch and pretty much a game that sums up this disappointing season. Tonight: An excellent pitching performance wasted. Needed a few small things to get done right... and we failed. Another L in a game that was there for the taking. Arky did the little things needed to win and got the W. Have to recognize the limitations on the Gators team.

He can hit better than he can bunt. Problem is our lack of an inside game has always hurt us . We have trouble defending and executing the bunt. By the way , concerning execution “ I’m all for it “ ..( John MacKay) circa ‘77 or so

Yup. If one player screws up a bunt one time, that's his fault. If the team as a whole can't bunt in general, that's Sully's fault. And if one player on the team can't bunt and Sully keeps asking him to, that's also Sully's fault. One of my two long-term frustrations with Sully as between-the-lines game-manager is that the less talented the player is, the more specific Sully's instruction to them are, which strikes me as bass ackwards. (The other is the one-PA or mid-PA pitching changes -- in the TP era, is that not basically showing them the door? Or at least a massive disrespect.)

This is probably pushing the "about the one game" directive from GatorGal/mods... maybe a new thread if someone wishes to follow up?

I don’t think we can generate offense except solo dings . I don’t see us with an offensive plan , ie… moving runners , base runners getting picked , base runners not taking an aggressive secondary to advance on a ball/ read in the dirt. We don’t really extend a runner from 1st to 3rd on a soft single .Very lethargic.. I don’t think we defend and align properly. I don’t see our outfielders ever come up throwing anyone out . Have we had an outfield assist this year?
We are a lethargic program that is searching for something but no plan of finding what we are searching for.

I want Sully to be our guy forever. I think all of us do . But we can get way more out of this program than what we are. The pop that was dropped made me throw up last night. How in the hell a program of this brand screw that up?
I know I’m critical but my expectations of a baseball program are very high . Especially here at UF. I know I come across as a negative poster… but it’s only that I expect more . This season hurts. We let it get away from us.
