As proven in court today, Trump entered into a criminal conspiracy with Pecker and AMI for the purposes of winning a presidential election. They then committed business fraud to cover up the payments. Orange McJerkFace is dead to rights and he is guilty of contempt of court also.
Nice try, but Hunter is getting paid very well indeed... Back to this nothingburger of a case. No crime was committed by Trump... end of story.
Is it possible that you take a moment to reflect upon this comment? Can you imagine a world where people hold valid beliefs different than your own?
Just don’t cry on here when he wins and his DOJ finds something frivolous on your next ‘rising star’.
If other countries think that we are a banana republic it's more so because a defeated incumbent president tried to stay in power by orchestrating a [fortunately failed] coup d'état rather than acceding to the lawful transition of power.
Just for purposes of pure simplicity, this is what the trial is about. If Trump had no knowledge that the hush payments made to Stormy Daniel were booked at legal expenses to Cohen, he will win. The trial. If the jury finds (with the heavy burden of proof) that Trump was involved with the false booking entry, he will be found guilty. (Note, again, for context, that it is not a crime to pay hush money to a porn star. But because Trump used campaign funds to pay that hush money, it is a crime to conceal that payment, because under campaign laws expenditures must be fully disclosed. And so by reporting that the hush money was paid as legal expenses to Cohen, when it was actually hush money to Stormy, it is considered a form of election reporting fraud — it concealed the true payment and concealed relevant and mandatory information from the public. Stated slightly differently, if Trump had just paid Stormy from his own funds, and not from his campaign, that would have been fine and we wouldn’t be having a trial).
I guess since the case involves campaign financing laws, and thus the integrity of the 2016 election, nobody could say this is not politically motivated. Political issues are the core of this case.
The question of whether anyone was defrauded will be decided in the case. The State claims the public was defrauded because the Trump Campaign concealed a hush money payment. That hush money payment was required to be disclosed in the campaign finance reporting, it was not. And thus the people, under the theory of the case, were defrauded by not having the relevant information on the Trump candidacy. Remember, several of the Trump people have already been found guilty on this very issue (like Cohen). Thus, the question decided by the jury is whether Trump was personally complicit. (And as I stated before, I don’t think this is the most sexy or egregious of the Trump cases (or legion of line of bad acts), and I think the State has a tough case to meet its heavy burden. And so I am not suggesting this is an air-tight case. I’m just trying to explain what will be decided).
I think you may be missing the fact (unless I am misreading it) that Rick doesn't know the difference between the Stormy Daniels hush money case and the separate case involving the inflation and/or deflation of Trump owned properties to avoid property taxes. The hush money payments have nothing to do with paying back loans with interest and whether they were paid early or not. To be fair, there are a bunch of cases to keep up with involving Trump, so it is somewhat understandable.
Agree. It wouldn't surprise me if the jury finds Trump guilty of the misdemeanor of falsifying business records but fails to reach a unanimous verdict on the counts related to failure to disclose campaign expenditures that elevated the charges to felonies. Interesting question is that if there is hung jury on those counts would the state elect to retry Trump?
