Definitely a WT% headline...and after you get past the "she" and the "Lt. Colonel" aspects--both shocking frankly...it seems like she had some *justification* for doing what she's alleged to have done: “I was just trying to get a couple of my dad’s things because you wouldn’t talk to me anymore,” she told her stepmother during her arrest, according to the complaint. She was trying to get items of her late father’s, including “pictures, a flannel shirt, ashes, and other items of sentimental value,” the complaint states.
Really? I don’t think so. She’s going to be embarrassed for sure and it shows bad judgment. Not sure you wanna destroy her over trying to secure old pictures of her deceased father.

I mean her father passed away…I get it. She got emotional with her MIL. Sometimes I confuse myself too.
It seems like she could have initiated some legal action (as, you know, a Senator, someone who should be vaguely aware of the law) to persuade the person to cooperate, if all means of financial persuasion were exhausted. I don't know if this would qualify for a lawsuit or not, however.
OJ was convicted of armed robbery for trying to get his own memorabilia back. I wouldn’t call the woman a “nutjob” given her motive here, but she also had absolutely no legal right to enter, break-in, or otherwise to the stepmom’s house and take anything. To do so is, by definition, burglary. Is the stepmom a bitch for denying these things? Yeah, probably.
You sure? I thought perhaps that murder trial was a witch-hunt by a crooked prosecutor and corrupt judges. He was totally exonerated by the jury, after-all.

I will just say to that she would not have had any legal right to any memorabilia from her father if her stepmother didn't want her to have it under the law. Pretty certain on that, notwithstanding the fact that is Minnesota law. That said, assuming she is telling the truth, her stepmother is really low for acting like that, even if it is within her legal right. I tell many individuals the surest way to bring on otherwise avoidable probate litigation is to not be respectful in the division of personal memory effects with no external value, especially pictures. In no way am I justifying burglary. I'm just saying that messing with someone's memories of the deceased is a powerful emotional motivator. Millions are wasted on legal fees every year due to petty differences, especially between now fully grown siblings. You always find it goes back to something that happened when they were teens.
