Well your first clue should be that a flag isnt a knife or stabby object. That seems like an editorial choice by a right-wing paper to me.
I don’t put many on ignore, but one just made the list. Good news is folks like this usually flame out and get banned before long.
OK, it's pretty clear that despite the sensationalism of sources such as the NY Post and Fox, she was not 'stabbed' in the eye. She could well have been poked. Whether it was intentional or not, there's no way for us here to know, is there? Here's her story in the conservative paper that she's in the editor of: I Was Stabbed in the Eye at Yale And her piece bashfully proclaiming that, as editor, she is bringing courage back to Yale The Yale Free Press Is Bringing Courage Back to Campus
They have the power, they just have not exercised the will. I think the gist of this is that when nonsense like this is not ended in its early stages, things don’t end well later when it becomes painfully obvious to everyone that the nonsense HAS to be ended.
I think its probably a good question to ask why lots of media seem more interested in incidents like this and protests at Ivy League universities which educate a tiny portion of the population than what is actually happening in Gaza day to day.
Maybe they should call in the Ohio National Guard? They have some experience with this type of thing.
I actually think in this case she got exactly what she was looking for by going there to do 'reporting,' to be honest.
You misunderstood my tongue in cheek point. I'm wasn't talking about the admin ending the protests, I was talking about them ending the actual conflict. Go protest to people that could potentially do something, like a politician.
Well, that is one option, but I think there are many more reasonable options in between someone getting stabbed or poked in the eye and the Ohio National Guard shooting people, don’t you. FWIW, I think we can all agree the Kent State Protests didn’t end well
I’m sure she woke up and said “here’s hoping I get a trip to the hospital today”. Yes, we can have a discussion about how serious this individual incident was or wasn’t, but blaming the victim, essentially calling her a drama queen or a manipulator is dangerous. If actual facts come out to support she lied, then we can have that discussion. Yes it is particularly at Ivies but in other places too it’s real, whether or not Gaza gets coverage isn't really relevant to whether this is a serious issue. If this were happening to any other minority group it wouldn’t be tolerated for even a nanosecond, rightfully. Trade out the groups in this exchange, would a single person on the left be OK with it if these were women or AA’s, or gay folks? It’s bad enough that as I posted above, Jewish kids are being told to not even go to school because it isn’t safe for them. And people continue to minimize or excuse what’s happening. University of Illinois: I could post a hundred more.
I saw the hole in this story and drove a Mack Truck right through it. The usual right wing suspects are left in disarray with poo on their faces. SAD!
This person was clearly interested in making the story about them, and if something hadnt happened they would have invented it. She definitely wasnt there to report on what people are saying about Gaza in good faith.
