Beautiful & Heart-Touching Cover of, "Southern Accent" by Dolly Parton

Popped up on Tom Petty Channel on my drive today. Nice tribute!

 

Absolutely beautiful. My favorite Tom Petty song. A sincere tribute and poignant memorial to Tom Petty. I suspect Tom Petty himself, would have found it deeply moving (not to mention flattering), had be been alive to hear it.

It's a great thread and belongs on every board on SG. Including the pub, Too Hot, NBN and all others.
So the max amount of people can see it and appreciate our own Tom Petty.

What a great cover by Dolly! Both her and Petty are national treasures.

This cover is from a new compilation album called Petty Country coming out in June of country artists covering Tom's songs.

 

When I was a young boy growing up in Charlotte NC we visited relatives in Chicago. Their neighborhood friends called me dum for having a southern twang. I called them stupid for not knowing their times tables. lol. I purposely lost most of my accent over it

 

I was in Gainesville during the days of Mudcrutch and followed Petty & The Heartbreakers' career through the years. What a great band and what a great legacy of songs. Dolly is one of the all time greats - she's just awesome. What a rendition of that song!!
