Still time to move Cags to Friday. There will come a time when we will need him to win a game to advance to get where we need to go. To win THE game in the SEC Tourney that clinched a NCAA tourney spot can’t say “ not his turn”, especially since he’s our best pitcher and it’s not even close.
Jameson’s off speed …. haven’t seen much but best I’ve seen this year from any of our pitchers. Straight downhill and almost unhittable.
I can’t give up on this team. They have salvaged last game of last two series so they don’t quit. I don’t post on this board very often but I’m not a novice to Gator baseball even though I only follow every game, casually, now days. Which means checking the score on my phone every few minutes on my phone. I started attending Gator baseball games when a fellow named Kelly Prior was our ace. I trust Sullivan but, I don’t understand why we don’t start Cags on Friday. What is the reasoning?
It doesn't make sense in regular season as we need his glove at first base for two games. The guy is a gold glover over there.
Cags starts on Sundays so he can play first base on Friday and Saturday. Otherwise he'd probably only be able to play one game at first base. He's a really good defender and can be a genuine run saver (which our defense is sorely lacking). I think there's a good chance he will at least be the game 2 starter in the tournament NCAA tournament (if we make it). Winning that second game is a whole lot more important in the postseason as it's either the winners bracket game or an elimination game. And if we somehow advance to a super regional then he absolutely must start one of the first 2 games as well.
If we miss the NCAA Tourney will it make sense to have him wait? If 1 sec tourney win will cement us in tourney are you telling me you have him wait 2 extra days? He can DH day after pitching and play first base the next day. Hes an elite athlete, playing first 2 days after pitching is not a big deal. DH the day after not a big deal either.
You’re spot on. We will need Cags as a true number 1 at some point. They’ll tell you reasoning but I respectfully disagree as he could DH Saturday and play first Sunday. First base does not require much physical exertion. Not a real strenuous position.
He can DH one game and there is no reason he can’t play first base 2 days later. If, big if, we make post season he cannot be game 2 starter. The waiting to get down 1 game makes is very tough, why not go out and seize momentum and throw your best and get up one to zero? it would really really stink to miss out on the NCAA tournament because we waited to pitch Cags. Gotta play to win. First base is not a position where guys exert much energy, so don’t understand why he can’t play first two days after pitching.
You've been beating this drum pretty much all season, but I'm pretty sure Coach O'Sullivan isn't listening. It ain't gonna happen.
