Paused, and likely shuttered. Anything goes now.

Interesting. Is that paused ALL in TN and VA where the injunction applies or paused ALL nationwide? If the latter, that would mean that UF's investigation is paused and FSU should let the NCAA know that it won't be following the penalties applied in their case as well.

This has been coming for a while and is just another loss of a brick in the wall of dissolving the NCAA. Nobody with two brain cells to rub together believes that funds paid to a player supposedly for his NIL is anything other than being paid to play for team X. This Virginia law continues to expose the farce that the NCAA created with its NIL "rules." They could push back against this law by banning all Virginia institutions from NCAA competition. It is a voluntary organization and if a school or State doesn't want to follow its rules then they don't have to compete. They would face years of expensive litigation, but for its survival in its current form, it might be worth it.

Of course they will not take any action because they are an essentially toothless entity. What they will do is cave further to attempt to level the playing field (and keep their revenue stream) further accelerating the slide into what will ultimately be a completely professional sport.

What the numb-nut politician's in Virginia probably don't realize is they have taken a door with a slight crack in it and kicked it wide open for players to easily demonstrate that they are nothing more than paid employees, organize, and have a NLRB certify their union status.

Even if anything that this committee comes up with somehow passes in the House, it will be DOA in the Senate. This is much ado about nothing.

    Bobby,

I find the Mertz situation interesting from this perspective:

First - Graham is 'rising" in pre-season prognostications as one of the better QB's which is encouraging for
Gator Nation and of course Graham. Hopefully a great season will vault him into the NFL draft and a shot
    at an NFL career.

    OK - standard fare.

What I find interesting, is Graham's timing and his and other players situation(s) vis a vie NIL right now.
To get to my main point: Graham is getting paid. While I don't know the exact figures my understand is that it is significant.
Which is a good thing, for Graham and others playing and recieving NIL right now.

I suspect this is a "Golden Age" for recruits as it relates to financial compensation. At least among the high rated H.S. players
    and current players doing well.

Considering recent legislation, rumors of a salary cap, and college moving in the direction of a professional model, I suspect
that the current "highest bidder" situation will change, and probably quite soon, with new rules coming into play to "lessen"
    the highest bidder model.

Final point being, these are happy times for H.S. recruits and current players. Good for them, the coaches and of course the entities making billions
on the game should not be the only ones making the dough.

If these are happy times, why am I as a viewer who puts in the hard hours on the flat screen not getting some kind of 2% cash back or at least airline miles? Or in the alternative can I at least get rb who don't run out of bounds before contact and attempt to block if they are getting the big bucks now. I should get something out of the time I am investing in cfb.

In afraid there is zero benefit to the fans. I HATE, what has happened and find it to be grossly mismanaged.

But players deserve something. I was pointing out, there is a window open for players to get a financial windfall.

I'm sure that window will be partially shut in the near future.

In fact Kryptonite, here is another "kick" coming for the fan base.
I posted recently, IMO, conference championship games may be eliminated.

Last night Josh Pate had a show about that very subject.

Here is the issue: Conferences (or the SEC and Big 10 at least) make big money on these games.
so, of course, the masters of College Football Disasters, want to keep it.

Per Josh Pate - STUPID IDEA.

    Why?

OK - Two teams meet in a conference championship game.
It's very possible these teams could potentially meet again, A WEEK LATER, in th playoffs.

An even worse scenerio would be:

BAMA / Auburn - Go into the last game of the regular season with great records.
Rematch - SEC Championship Game 3rd match - First Game of the Playoffs.

Per Pate, it is very likely in a number of scenerios that teams could play each other as soon as a week
after a conference championship game in the playoffs. Per Pate there are NO RULES, currently in effect, to prevent this from happenning.

Remember 2006 when OSU and Michigan (almost) had a repeat, had Michigan beaten the Gators out for the spot?

Per Pate, sure, the selection committe will try to avoid this, but Pate thinks we will see this happen is some cases.

LSU and Alabama had a rematch, and it wasn’t the end of the world. The SEC championship is already going to be kind of dumb because there’s no divisions so there’s no to champions to play each other anyway

I agree it is dumb to have these contests now. Makes no sense other than lining pockets. We have a 12 team playoff that is expanding to 14 next year.
Another issue is player / team fatigue. It's possible for a team to play 16 games now, depending on their playoff starting spot.

I loved the SECCG under the old format, now it seems rather useless, other than for the $.

This is more complicated than you think. Title IX will force equal payment between male and female athletes.

Not sure about that, but what you can be sure about is that it will get hashed out in court.
